  Ah I see, a good question! Didn’t think about this and will test it right now. There is a third monitor not in use, so I will unplug my tv and plug the other monitor in, and back off course.   Hm, the panel is only visible on the TV screen anyway. So it does not matter if the TV is plugged in or not, because without TV the panel cannot be seen or interacted with.

  Hmm. So the assumption is then this is a troll post? Maybe the person doesn’t know and is new to this, got a free old laptop in example. You might be right that the system is underspecced for most normal usage and deeper knowledge to work with it might be required. But I don’t get why the person is downvoted for asking the question. Unless its a troll off course, if that is the assumption.

  Congratz on liberating your computer and yourself. Just a little advice on using the AUR: It is an user driven repository of software, meaning anyone can upload stuff to it. Usually you are adviced to read the AUR script before installing it (most don’t, especially newcomers). So you should be very careful and only install from trusted AUR scripts. Maybe install from Flatpak instead from AUR if you can, but that depends on many factors.

  Maybe I should not have said it in the way I did. I should have said “usually people switch…”. From what I see, performance is not the main attraction for “most” people who changes it. I wonder how much of difference it makes and how people measure it.

  That is speculation. And as said, its not the decision of systemd to implement that, it is a decision of the operating system / distribution. I live outside the areas of those laws. What the next logical step is, is open to interpretation and that is not what I am discussing here.

  Just wanted to share an alias I have in use and found it useful again. It’s a simple wrapper around xargs, which I always forget how to use properly, so I set up an alias for. All it does is operate on each line on stdout. The arguments are interpreted as the command to execute. The only thing to remember is using the {} as a placeholder for the input line.
