I&#39;ve decided that this is the year that I finally, definitively get into ice hockey. Being an Illinoisan I watch the Blackhawks and really the last time I earnestly watched them was their last Stanley Cup run in 2015. So the previous manager of my team (who I report to) had a hard time saying no, which caused a lot of grief for my team. I meanwhile I have absolutely no qualms with saying no and protecting my team’s time, and boy are other folks not happy with that.

Everybody drags on Microsoft for how shitty Copilot and Office are. But for me the truly shittiest Microsoft product is Windows Hello. Only works 1 out of 10 times because Windows for some reason can never find the camera. I only use it on my work laptops and it has never worked reliably across 3 devices from HP, Dell, or Microsoft fucking Surface. #Windows #Microsoft

Continuing on the de-Googling front: ordered an ecoobee Enhanced Thermostat to replace the Nest, a Phillips sunrise alarm to replace my Lenovo Google Home smart clock, and have unplugged and put away the 2 Google Nest speakers. Literally all that&#39;s left now is YouTube Premium. (although we still have a Google TV, but I use Projectivy Launcher and ADB TV to remove the bloat and telemetry). #DeGoogle

The more I&#39;m using @zed the more I&#39;m liking it. I have the AI features disabled, of course, but it was super simple to get my dev environments for Java, Python, C/C++, and even C#. Only thing I&#39;m missing is a way to run my unit tests in the editor as opposed to CLI, but that can wait. Zed also helped me to resolve a weird issue I was seeing in a Java project that VSCodium said wasn&#39;t there. #Zed #programming

The de-Googling journey continues full steam ahead! Today I finally migrated all of my photos out of Google Photos and onto Immich hosted on my Synology. Now I can cancel my Google One plan. Only things that are left now are are YouTube TV (soon will switch to Sling Blue) and YouTube Premium. The latter will be the hardest of all since there&#39;s no good YT frontends for Apple devices. #DeGoogle #Immich #SelfHosting
