Huh. Pretty cool. https://www.wired.com/story/defcon-34-badge-baochip-andrew-bunnie-huang/ Almost as cool as my junk badge. Show off. I am totally kidding. That is a pretty awesome design and I can’t wait to check it out.

Ok folks, a small preview of our badge for DEFCON. First, there’s a guestbook, so you can sign your neighbors node (this is DEF CON after all) Second, our landing page interface, complete with Joey! Onboard help page! And a Veilid network visualization that gives you some insight as to what your perspective is on the network.

What I’m saying is I’ve been quiet for a while, but I haven’t been idle. Recycled garbage into a badass next gen privacy respecting compute platform that can be used for damn near anything. Don’t question my dedication, we ain’t came to lose.

Ok. One of my favorite things about hackers on is the dogged persistence involved with twisting tech to your will. This weekend was a lot of that. Total badge rebuild to accommodate a workflow broken due to client isolation. This little badge board just hated the idea of being both a AP and a STA at the same time. Not anymore. But that was a deep dive in drivers and reverse engineering. It works now. Hail SATA

You ever not account for a specific network setting and then have to refactor code and reflash 200 badges at the last minute? Yeah, no? Totally... me neither...

Saturday night of DEF CON… The whole North Atrium… 6-9PM. Get your party on to pregame (for gothcon probably) the rest of the night! (for the greybeards, before bedtime…) @kampf@defcon.social @PatAttack@infosec.exchange Skittish and Bus Will be our featured DJs, and gosh if they can’t down bring the house down, no one can. And special guests from across the legends of hacking! We are celebrating 10yrs of hackers.town… 10 yrs of K-Rad, and we hope you can come celebrate with us! #be1337...

It’s time to make a concerted push for privacy policy reform in the states. The decision this week was a good one but stopped just short of declaring your data yours regardless of platform it is stored on. This means the litmus test is still the 1967 benchmark of “does society expect your situation to deserve privacy.” I think the people are ready. The overreach and encroachment of the past decade has set the stage. We won a battle, but the real win is now within reach.

I gotta give @Kingpin a shoutout. Our village badge this year has a hidden feature (eastern eggs are cool) and as I was putting this together, I discovered that Joe had made something that would go so well with what the plan was. We don’t talk a ton, but we are in some chats together. So I reached out to get his blessing, and being the good dude that he is, he enthusiastically said yes. So now we have some Kingpin code running on the badge, and that’s pretty cool. See y’all @defcon
