The irony is strong that even through all the keyboards I own, the one I keep coming back to is the novelty Commodore 64 one because it just has the most beautiful key surfaces and that delicious click. I can type faster with less conscious thought with the feel and the sound.

Thinking about that doctor at the walk-in clinic who, before any of the drama, way back, not only realised "I think this is MS", but she had the stones to actually come up to me, a random patient, and deliver news that she knew would be life-changing in the worst possible way.

For some reason, I appear to have acquired Lobo's term "bastich" (meaning "bastard"). Every AuDHD day is a new adventure.

I find it kind of interesting that the majority of people railing against datacentres (and who aren't just making things up) are American. Interesting, isn't it? Every other country manages to host datacentres without impact on drinking water, residential noise, you name it. Wonder why that is. (I know why that is)

So I didn't rate that at all. It was a ghost story. Which is fine, but this is Star Trek, and I want you to find out the source of the 'ghosts'. Not just handwave them away with a spoopy final image of the ghost. Also, I can't be alone smelling a setup for Division 12.

Dear people making smart glasses: Displays: VERY YES Cameras: not until men evolve as a fucking species Lidar / non-camera spatial awareness: now you're getting it (but you have to find a way of making it clear it's not a fucking camera) Just get cracking with displays already.

The first anime I ever watched was Fist of the North Star, on 4Later after Babylon 5 (which was what I was actually staying up watching on a 5in black and white telly). You should check it out. It's fucking terrible. WATATATATATATATATATATA

I used the Claude Agent SDK when building claude-commit to check it out, and it's very cool indeed. It uses your Claude subscription instead of API pricing, and doesn't shell out to Claude Code. This lets us do things like require JSON structured output, without just prompting for it and hoping for the best. Try it out in dry run mode a few times, and if you're happy with the commit messages, let it save you some time :) https://github.com/synmux/claude-commit

X-Men '97 is SO good, and is such a demonstration of how you do nostalgic media. It's a continuation of the show. Nothing significant fucked with. It's the same DNA, with changes where it can benefit from the passing of time and an adult target audience. The nostalgia is a bonus, not a precept.

This is great. Take four minutes to give it a pop. Understand also that I've never known anyone to get PIP without mandatory reconsideration (always denied) and tribunal (always balks at the DWP's bullshit and awards). You can enter fake details if you prefer. https://z2k.pro.typeform.com/pip-simulation

Idea: an IT consultancy that isn’t a machine for making shareholders rich, but instead is about supporting employees. It’s called BIG QUEER NERDS, and the clue’s in the name. Queer and neurodivergent people are talent-rich and chronically underemployed. Pool the talent, share the money. A THREAD. The model: employees above all. No shareholders to appease, no infinite-growth treadmill. Profits shared among all staff - seniority sets split, but when the company does well, everyone does. That me...

The idea that we should be allowed to rejoin the EU without joining Schengen or the Euro is absurd. We had those exceptions. We gave them up. Actions have consequences.

BIG QUEER NERDS: We need a frontend developer quick sharp after our previous hire fell through (not her fault, entirely Meta's fault). Have a glance over the spec at https://github.com/tecapps/documentation/blob/main/recruitment/FRONTEND-SPEC.md. Feel free to meander around that repo for other docs to get an idea of things if you like.

My parents, God love them, are driving me strange. I have a sign up saying WHATSAPP IT to avoid them breaking my flow. For a couple of weeks, they did. Then they stopped. Well, bollocks to it. If I can't have a Busy Bar, I'm building one myself. So I've got a Pico 2 W Unicorn (https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/space-unicorns?variant=40842626596947) from Pimoroni on the way, and I'll build the code to detect when I'm in flow state and update it. An updating status indicato...

So let me get this straight. Puberty blockers, prescribed to cis kids with precocious puberty, require a new trial if you're trans? And we shouldn't actually RUN that trial because puberty blockers are bad and we shouldn't find out if they're bad or not because they might turn out not to be? Making kids go through the wrong puberty is violence.

Under-represented tool I find dead useful: Multipass. Quick and easy way to spin up an Ubuntu VM for console access. Mounts your home directory into the VM by default. Uses a platform-specific hypervisor. WSL is probably better on Windows, but it's ace on a Mac. https://canonical.com/multipass

Gotta admit. I was prepared to age out of slang, for my cross-section of slang to tail off. I was not prepared for what happened, which is that aging out of it is far less significant than the big driver of slang becoming literal fucking Nazis.

Vibed the fuck out of a tool. It's quite good, so I released it. yt-pdlp : uses yt-dlp as a library to download videos in parallel. I wanted it to pull my Watch Later videos. Without args: uvx yt-pdlp will download your Watch Later playlist, using your cookies from Chrome, with 4 threads. Further dev will change the default behaviour to something more intelligent, but that's the way it is right now. Args exist to modify behaviour. Enjoy :)

Honestly I don't know when I went all-in on Cloudflare Workers but I have not regretted it for an instant. Well, okay, it kind of pissed me off that I had to go full-stack TypeScript as a native Rubyist, but I'm mostly over that now that I've thrown in on Nuxt and don't have to deal with fucking React. I miss some stuff from Rails, the database stuff in particular, but it's not the end of the world. And going microservice with multiple Workers with a Queues messaging bus i...

The system I built to page me (don't bother, because it just logs right now) at https://syn.horse/panic now uses Cloudflare Queues! Previously it talked to ntfy directly, but using the Queues primitive gets me... ...well okay it doesn't get me much. But add Queues to the list of things I've been able to tickle on Cloudflare's compute platform!

Happy birthday to George Takei. Once upon a time my parents took me to a pantomime. Which was a bit weird, we didn't have anything against pantos, but we didn't really go to them. But okay. Fine. Long car ride. Sat down. Show started. Widow Twankey appears. Takes me a minute. "Wait." "Mum, that looks like... is that...?" It was.

I check socials when I'm outside smoking. But I come across stuff I need to look at on desktop. And I forget. Hyperduck gives you an iOS share destination which, with the Mac agent, opens Web pages you share to it on your Mac. That's it. That's all. And it's great. https://apps.apple.com/app/id6444667067
