TIL I can get slop-free openrsync via pkgsrc as easily on MacOS as NetBSD, https://www.cambus.net/using-pkgsrc-on-mac-os-x/. Related, nice to see NetBSD Core sensibly pondering what to do in the face of the rising slop tidal wave https://mail-index.netbsd.org/tech-pkg/2026/06/05/msg032237.html

Navigating NetBSD w/ man is a bit too primitive: eman() { emacs -nw -Q --eval '(setq pop-up-windows nil)' --eval "(man \"$1\")" } # eman limits Now you get a humane browser w/ links and backwards/forwards navigation that launches instantly

Set up my second NetBSD 10.1 machine, a 10 year old ThinkCentre M700 I got for $130. It's a good reminder just how fast a 10 year old computer can be when you're not running rando stuff you can't control.
