๐Ÿ“ฆ The new #PPWR could make cross-border EU sales impossible for SMEs. Shipping one book to Hungary? Potentially ~โ‚ฌ1,800 in compliance costs. 99.8% of EU businesses are SMEs. Why not one EU platform, one filing system and sensible thresholds? ๐Ÿชฆ Donโ€™t kill the Single Market for small businesses. ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Letโ€™s change it via a European Citizensโ€™ Initiative. Join the 1 million. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป https://actionnetwork.org/forms/we-are-the-1-million-join-us?source=ppwr

Last week's #Ceuta incident exposed Europe's weakness: Instead of supporting Spain, 22 governments asked the Commission to crack down on a fellow member state. Tomorrow it could be Greenland, Belarus or any other external border. Europe needs unity and solidarity. That's why Volt is launching "We are the 1 Million." ๐Ÿ’ก A list of at 1 million citizens to mass-file European Citizen Initiatives to put the topics that matter on the EU agenda. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Join the list: https://ac...

I spoke with Jonas Laursen about @VoltEuropa@mstdn.social the plans with my co-president Inรชs Bravo Figueiredo for our mandate, our flavor of federalism, if we're a left party and more. Thanks for having me ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Watch the segment with Jonas and Paul Bekaert from EU Made Simple: ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPDFgKQzr3o ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Full interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pW5bCUou0w

Gelb ๐ŸŸก + Grรผn ๐ŸŸข + Europa ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ = Volt Sehr cool, in der @saechsischede@bird.makeup รผber den Start unseres @voltsachsen Teams in Gรถrlitz zu lesen. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Artikel auf https://www.saechsische.de/lokales/goerlitz-lk/goerli...

For the last EU Council, Rob Jetten quoted Margaret Thatcher (or Destiny's child ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ) when asked whether the Netherlands would vote for the new EU budget proposal. "Nein. Non. No." was his answer and in stark contrast to his campaign where he demanded a 10x more ambitious EU (๐Ÿ™„ https://d66.nl/europa/nieuws/wederopstanding/). ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Our opinion piece why more Europe actually saves tax payer money with @ReiniervanLanschot@mastodon.world and @laurensdassen@mastodon.nl in the Dutch @Trou...

I took the early train ๐Ÿฅฑ to Brussels to attend the EYL40 Alumni event before joining the @voltbelgium Meet&Greet to talk Volt Europa co-presidency ๐Ÿ˜Š We discussed how to grow a local team in the Euro-Bubble and being visible in the media. ๐Ÿ’กThis is where Volt Europa can really help if we develop our political weight and visibility.

(catch-up post from my transnational listening tour) I stress-tested the Deutschland-Ticket switching many trains to meet Volt Dresden ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป We discussed the #fediverse and Volt playing a role of pushing decentralised platforms ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป to the political pressure from the extreme-right and the feeling of being left behind - now also across all of Germany! "The future of democracy will be decided in Europe": https://www.nzz.ch/meinung/ein-ende-der-scheinheiligkeit-europa-kann-nicht-die-...

Happy to have attended the @voltnederland GA ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ discussing: ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป lessons from Macron getting a bloody nose trying to turn the EU into a large version of France ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Volt Europa doing the political work our MEPs cannot do because they are stuck in the legislative machine ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Volt Europa visible in national media driving audience to our smaller chapters. I surely won't get all votes in the Netherlands, but I left for Amsterdam knowing that I will also have support here ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Next stop on my listening tour after Ede: Leiden ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ I met the local team to discuss how to ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป activate more members, ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป find the right spots to contribute ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป build up the profiles of future candidates ๐Ÿ’ก We agreed networking is crucial - whether in the local Tennis club or in European initiatives. Thank you for taking the time ๐Ÿ’œ

(Catch up post from my 3rd leg to Berlin ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช ) @voltdeutschland does a lot of other things right: ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป they use a Delegate Assembly with elected member representatives, ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป any member can propose motions provided sufficient endorsements and ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป topics are properly debated at the General Assembly ahead of voting. ๐Ÿ’ก A more formalized, accessible and democratic system will also greatly benefit our European level. Thank you for hosting @VoltBerlin ๐Ÿ’œ

After my visit to Leiden, I also passed by The Hague for a dinner with members from the local team ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป questioning me on my programme ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป talking benefits and risks of European political leadership It is two worlds, a legislative and a political one. We must connect both. ๐Ÿ’œ Thank you for hosting me Volt Den Hague

After the Hague, I met the team members of Volt Rotterdam ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป I described "Fame, Fortune, Style and Substance" to build and candidate profiles ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป I learned how much effort goes into Community work and helping members to contribute I missed Hilgo (๐Ÿ˜ถโ€๐ŸŒซ๏ธ) already climbing onto my night bus to catch my flight to Ireland ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช Next time

(Catch-up post from my transnational listening tour to Zurich ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญ) We discussed ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป "10 million" - a textbook populist campaign. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป that Switzerland is "mittendrin in nid dรผbii", ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป @voltswitzerland.org supporting the campaign against the referendum and the opportunity for Volt Europa to take a stand.

(Catch-up post from my transnational listening tour to Lille ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท) I couldn't miss May 1st and the traditional soup festival, on which associations and political parties cook soup for a few thousand visitors to try. I was happy to see my former Lille team becoming a staple. It shows how continuous work builds our brand ๐Ÿ’œ ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป We discussed politics, next year's presidential elections and the parliamentary elections right after. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป It was also great to meet fellow candidate Oliver Fo...

I'm on the road again for the 3rd leg of my transnational listening tour, called "Homecoming" since I'm touring through Bavaria and Germany ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป It was a great discussion and everyone agreed we need European political leadership - in Europe, but also within our movement. Thank you, @voltmuenchen for the invite, the Bayreuther Volters for joining and looking forward to catching up again.

Next stop on my transnational listening tour: Regensburg ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช where I studied over 20 years ago joining Volt Regensburg to discuss European politics. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป We quickly agreed we need European political leadership. The EU, because there has to be a counterweight to nationalist policies. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป I left with a lot of notes (and my Volt Regensburg notebook ๐Ÿ˜). Thank you for having me and see you back soon ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ

Europe is still stuck. โ›” with national leaders only talking about Europe. ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Missing pressure for treaty reforms. ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ Without a threat to loose seats. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป I'm running for Volt Europa Co-President because we need European political leadership. (catch-up post from my homecoming leg through the region I grew up ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช) Volt Bamberg organised a meeting with local elected officials, which I could join. I learned: ๐Ÿ’กLocal teams have a hard time connecting across borders ๐Ÿ’กWe need to balance workloads and prevent burn outs (Volt is a rabbit hole... ask me) ๐Ÿ’œ A big thank you to @hgbruenker for organising local TV ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป https://www.tvo.de/mediathek/video/vollbluteuropaeer-mit-bayreuther-wurzeln-sven-franck-macht-jetzt-in-slowenien-politik/

Very happy to have been invited to the Future500 initiative which aims to gather the European startup ecosystem to push for what's needed to keep innovations, founders and potential in Europe and scaling EU companies from billions to trillions. Damian Boeselager had one of the best speeches, I know why I'm in @VoltEuropa and that our arguments for a more integrated Europe are the ones we need to push today.

Half a day in Budapest to warm-up for my transnational campaign to become Volt Europa co-president. A day in Warsaw with @voltpolska.org ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑ . Volt is needed in Poland ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ

Next stop on my transnational campaign: @voltoesterreich ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡น hosting me in Vienna! A great panel with Tamara Ehs & Robert Menasse. The takeaway: ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป National parties dodging their European responsibility is a recipe for disaster We did talk until 2am on why Austria doesn't contribute to define "Neutrality" for the European Union ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ rather than 60% of the population being reluctant to provide military aid to a neighboring member state.

On the road again in #Cyprus ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡พ for my campaign to become Co-President of Volt Europa ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Nicosia as the only divided capital in Europe really gave me a "Berlin vibe" ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ The human rights charta in front of the border crossing should remind our political leadership that people wish to live in peace and freedom. Volt Cyprus is running in the upcoming elections with this message. Their voice is needed in the Cypriot Parliament - as is the voice of Cyprus in Europe. ฮ‘ฮปฮปฮฌฮถฮฟฯ…ฮผฮต ฯฮตฯฮผฮฑ...

What I understood reminded my somewhat of Dave Keating "Owned Continent" and the need to also defend our culture and European way of life, so I'm happy, the same ideas exist in all corners of the European continent. Last stop on my transnational "listening tour": Tirana ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฑ ๐Ÿ’ก With Volt Albania, I spent the day discussing Albania's accession to the EU, because while the city is full of EU flags ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ, after applying in 2009, the goal is to join the EU by 2030. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป We really should have gradual accession as we propose
