Lover of books, birds, trees, beaches, Alaska, Hawaii, SF, NYC, Seattle, Portland... I organize books for fun at the library, knit, crochet, cook, and love to walk. Petsitter for dogs, cats, bunnies, and the occasional hedgehog. Former restaurant and natural food store worker. Made forest service maps for a year or two.

Mildly apocalyptic out there today in the smoky heat, I've seen a few makeshift burnouses, I guess that's not that unusual for Eugene. Not a lot of flannel today. People more concerned with surviving the day than being bitchy about it. My not so glamorous life. But I wanted a globe from the thrift. Didn't find one, so it was me and my skein of yarn wandering through the smoker that is Oregon today. The low income routes have transit cops.

I had a lyric on my mind today. Looking up a Talking Heads lyrical fragment can be a journey. Looking at a list of song titles... I take it for granted that I can dive into a discography like that, unimaginable when I was a kid, not just because they weren't a band yet. The weirdest part is that I couldn't find it and remembered it was Paul Simon. I could *never* have imagined confusing David Byrne with Paul Simon. These are the days of miracle and wonder 😆

I woke up this morning trying to say "synechdoche." I know how to say it, but not before caffeine. I kept stumbling midway through, it was kind of funny. No clue of the context of synechdoche, I think it has to do with the book I was reading when I fell asleep. But I like it when I wake up laughing, your turn next....

I didn't do a thing today worth writing home about, that's fine, but I did get some of the rice I like to finish the soup. When in doubt, cook some rice. It's an organic sprouted brown short grain rice, sounds woo woo, but if it's there, why not 😆

Crickets are really loud out back. Such a relaxing sound on summer nights. The people that lived here before had a hammock out there, I was always waking up at 2 AM shivering and disoriented 😆

@kimlockhartga@beige.party Another thing is that the places he describes are real places, just with slightly different names: Provo become Orvop, the Wasatch range become Isatch, Sundance ski resort is Cassidy... but the descriptions are right. I think he's referring to SLC as Rome, because all roads lead to it... the whole grid layout of the streets emanates from the corner of Temple Square.

Caacade Head is one of the first places friends took me to see in Oregon in the late 70's, after we had met in John Day and spent an afternoon on Strawberry Peak.
