RE: https://ohai.social/@jascha/116165169216167770 The idea that there’s a shadowy &#39;them&#39; keeping the good stuff under wraps is just a way for people to feel like they’ve got a shortcut to the truth without doing the actual work. It’s the digital equivalent of a guy telling you he’s found a &#39;secret&#39; passage through a reef that isn&#39;t on the chart, usually, that guy is just looking for a reason to sell you a new prop.

Just saw the news about the EU launching &#39;OceanEye&#39; and Barcelona building a &#39;Digital Twin&#39; of their port using AI drones. Part of me (the guy who loves a clean dataset) is fascinated. Imagine being able to see every blade of seagrass and calculate blue carbon in real-time without ever dropping a tethered camera. So, I’m reading that the &#39;big idea&#39; for 2026 is bringing nuclear power back to commercial shipping. The high-level executive briefings are calling it the only &#39;true green solution&#39; for the giant container ships and LNG carriers. Down there, 40 miles off the coast, the water doesn&#39;t recognize a &#39;prize ship&#39; or a military objective. It just sees steel and wood and the same cold pressure for everyone. We spend all this time mapping every rock and reef so ships can sail safely, but you can’t map out human greed or negligence.
