Looking at Marmite as a static site generator, and being dismayed that it's shockingly easy to get it installed, set it up, and learn how to use it, because now I have to actually do the work of creating the content. Why didn't somebody warn me? #marmite #ssg #FOSS

Today we went to not only the best contemporary art gallery I've been to in Tokyo, but possibly also the strangest. Without any prior knowledge and just because it was close to where we were, we thought we'd give the Ueshima Museum in Shibuya a go. It didn't start well. To enter you have to get a QR code emailed via a website which involves the usual Japanese rigmarole of providing waaaaay too much personal information (you should absolutely lie about everything but your...

Finally got to B-Pump in Tokyo. It's bigger than anything in Australia, but I gotta say, the bouldering gyms in Melbourne beat it in lots of ways. Spoogy holds, OK but not brilliant setting, and the facilities were pretty poor. My gym in Melbourne has a sauna, weights gym, and three types of water on tap, at B-Pump there aren't even showers and you have to buy water from a vending machine. #Climbing. #bouldering

I'm making a pattern for a bouldering chalkbag in Inkscape, and I was laying out the pages so that they would tile for my printer by hand, and thought to myself "this is going to take *minutes*, I bet that in only a few dozen hours I can write a script to do this automatically". So I wrote my first Inkscape extension. It overlaps pages with optional registration marks. The extension, and the chalkbag pattern are up on my codeberg. https://codeberg.org/stib/stibs_inksca...

Can we have a minute to ponder how cursed the Tasmanian footy team's mascot is? Pretty sure this came from one of those weird early Miyazaki films that used to frighten my kids. #lutruwita #AFL

RE: https://aus.social/@mzungu/116339045609573062 This explains a lot. All my favourite shop tools are a slightly more saturated tone of that green, I suppose it's connected.

My son bought a second-hand Windows 11 PC for games, and has been having BSOD issues with the graphics card since he got it. Out of desperation he tried installing Bazzite on it, which I encouraged, but was also trying not to get his hopes up, telling him that the some things might not work. But he reports that "absolutely everything works better than Windows". I suggested he use KDE for the desktop, and he is blown away about how good everything looks, and how easy the user e...
