“The majority also sets the rules, and the first rule it should change is how the final vote is cast. The Senate can adopt a secret ballot on conviction by simple majority under its own rulemaking power, with each senator’s vote recorded in the Senate’s journal and sealed for a term of years.” RE: https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:73t3muu2pudsajp7a2fj3aly/post/3mys7dn7bec2o

Republican power grabs in Kansas and Missouri are going down in flames with 18-25% of votes reported so far. Missouri's Amendment 4 aimed to make citizen-initiated constitutional amendments practically impossible. Kansas' Amendment 1 was designed to flip the state Supreme Court to ban abortion

The Declaration of Independence specifies 27 grievances with King George III and Britain. Donald Trump and his regime have committed at least 20 of those same offenses highlighted in yellow. Happy 250, America!

SCOTUS in 2022: Five months before Election Day is too late for Louisiana to redraw its GOP House map that harms Black voters. It must wait until 2024. SCOTUS in 2026: Louisiana may cancel its imminent primary—where >40,000 already voted—to enact basically the same old map that harms Black voters RE: https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:5masqigebv6augvgz62uko5i/post/3mlqrabjmmc2v

This chart shows why Democrats can’t unilaterally disarm while Republicans are gutting civil rights laws to pass ever more extreme gerrymanders. Dems could redraw several states by 2028—but if they don’t, the GOP could make the House winnable for Dems in anything but the biggest wave election RE: https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:b3psimnw5xxta2n4h5qzxu55/post/3mldzzlntyk2u

Adding to this, Republican legislatures like to strip powers from Democrats who win elections to replace Republican governors before those Dems take office. Legislators can often gerrymander veto-proof majorities too. Just layers upon layers of a rotten system that needs wholesale transformation RE: https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:v47w2oqbv7pbplwenk3mwpxp/post/3mlc4s5q6kk26
