An interesting thing that's possible to do with Overtone is exploring the graph formed by relationships between musical instruments. Loading the graph for "balalaika" and then right-clicking a bunch of nodes gets us to this

Reading about "the news" on X is interesting in that its purpose is to create noise in a certain direction. Right now, everyone over there is posting about Iran, but most of it revolves around whether a video of a bombed school is from the current wave of conflict or from a different country and different year. We should be figuring out ways to filter the noise or at least interpret it in more meaningful ways.

@AAKL People who still care about Apple should be more aware of things like "right to repair" and "planned obsolescence", but I get it, iMessage is so much better than [insert app] that you just MUST have the newest model with corporate bells and whistles. /s Relevant South Park - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA77Zbnflkk

#BandcampFriday is upon us! Might be a good time to shill my music mapping project, Overtone! If you're like me and are tired of listening to the same stuff over and over, receiving the same recommendations of "new" bands you've heard a thousand times before, try Overtone out and you'll sure listen to something new today! https://overtone.kernelpanic.lol

What's not to like about Trump? He speaks out exactly what he thinks, doesn't take all that "bringing democracy" bullshit at face value and instead says everything exactly the way the rest of the world perceives whatever bullshit America's leadership is peddling at the moment. Most sincere supreme leader the "free world" has ever had, by far.

Built and am still improving a public web tool to explore music as a graph instead of a list. Artists, bands, albums, instruments, collaborations — all navigable as an interactive node network on top of MusicBrainz data. Music isn’t linear. It’s a web. So this lets you wander it. https://overtone.kernelpanic.lol Check it out and let me know what you think, all feedback is welcome :) #music #musicdiscovery #DataVisualization #graphs #MusicBrainz #IndieWeb #OpenData
