Small move away from potential "slopware" (after reading this list https://codeberg.org/small-hack/open-slopware) -- turns out that the terminal emulator "foot" does everything I want that "kitty" does. So I switched to that, on linux. It's just as widely available and it's fine.

Say what you like about Wayland, when I'm in Gnome or KDE I can click on a button that says "Reverse (Natural) Scroll Direction" and shit works everywhere. When I'm in XFCE, God only knows what occult incantations might need to be uttered or scribed before everything everywhere does the right thing.
