If you ever feel like you’re not holy enough, remember this anecdote about St Teresa of Avila. While attempting to cross a dangerous river with her donkey cart, of the cables snapped and allowed all their supplies to be washed away. Angry and frustrated, she went under a tree to meditate. The Lord told her that this hardship was a sign of his loving friendship. Her reply? “Well, no wonder you have so few friends, then!”
