does anyone know how physical calculators avoid floating point imprecisions? it occurs to me that i have never seen something that looks like them on a calculator, which is odd because i assume they use something like an IEEE 747 implementation. is it that they have some sort of detection and just truncate the display?

Just finished reading Rek Bell's Wiktopher, was a wonderful story, beautiful conclusion. I really enjoyed the exploration of the setting and focus on the history and ecology of the world. The lack of 3rd person pronouns was pretty awesome and amazingly written, everything read completely naturally throughout, never seen anything else do that before. Good book :&gt;
