Finished Heretics of Dune last night, still loved it though I get why some people may not. On to the final Frank Herbert's books, Chapterhouse: Dune.

A few weeks ago, somebody in my feed boosted posts from someone who had been buying up generic servers eg used for users removed the system and monitoring the email. Was a fascinating examination of a potential security issue. Does anyone remember the posts?

I am reading a book with glued binding...who even am I anymore...oh wait, that's because I can no longer download books from Amazon and Dungeon Crawler Carl books aren't available in the kobo store. No ebook for me so I have had to buy the basic hardcover. On it goes with A Parade of Horribles - the newly released book 8 of the series.

Unexpected challenge of collecting omnibuses is working out reading order eg I bought the Captain America omnibus written by Ta-Nehisi Coates a year ago and didn't get round to reading it till last night...then realised that I needed to read the omnibuses written by Nick Spencer first. Luckily I had recently ordered the Nick Spencer omnibuses, volumes 1 and 2, and they arrived last week. I leapt out of bed and grabbed the Nick Spencer v1 from my library and started it instead.

Just committed and signed/paid deposit on solar panels + inverter + battery. Woohoo. Was quoted a couple of weeks ago but was busy. Rep contacted me on Monday that the battery supplier had offered a new promotion which dropped another $4k off the quote. More woohoo! We had our old panels removed a couple of years ago so we could replace the roof. Been meaning to get round to a new setup for a while.

Possibly my favourite email subject line: "Your parcel is being prepared by the sender" I love email from auspost. This time it's two Captain America omnibuses from a comic shop in Brissie.

Was in a teams meeting and laptop battery suddenly died. Quickly moved over to teams on my phone and continued on...seamlessly. Previously I would have had to switch off hearing aid connectivity on phone, switch on on laptop for meeting and in this instance would have needed to re-enable connection on phone when laptop died. With new hearing aids, I picked up phone, joined meeting and carried on, no reconnection required. Connection was still strong and active. Better bluetooth management wa...

The downside of forcibly migrating off amazon ebooks is that I can't get the latest Dungeon Crawler Carl instalment. Amazon stopped allowing transfer via usb and other such workarounds which means I can't purchase and download from there, to load into my kobo. Unable to download makes conversion to epub trickier.

Fun commute home. Concert in Sydney finished just prior to 10pm, home a bit before 1am. Turns out track work on airport line meant buses from central or extra long train journey via the sticks. Up till. 9pm, trains every 10 minutes or so, taking just over an hour. Post 9, trains every 30 minutes, taking 90 minutes for the trip.

Wow, was in bed by 10.30, could be a new personal best...hoping that means lots of reading as I'm currently midway through Heretics of Dune by Frank Herbert. This is the 5th of 6 books and I have this beautiful set from Centipede Press (and a couple of other editions)

Hmmm I now have 3 parcels via 3 different companies all likely to arrive next Wednesday: secondhand book from Adelaide pretty letterpress books from Canadia whisky from Scotland Though I no longer drink I still order the annual Cairdeas release from Laphroaig. Planning to have a multi-year flight available for my 60th...I think that means there'll be 7 years worth and each year is different. A few years ago, I hosted a flight of 4 years and that was fab.
