Working on putting some VMs in your future car. microVMs are kind of my thing (qemu-microvm, libkrun and muvm). Opinions are my own. #nobot

"ARM power consumption is so low you don't need anything beyond s2idle" is a harmful lie.

krunai is now also available for Linux too, with ready-to-use packages for Fedora via COPR. And it also got a nice speed bump for the start+connect command in 0.2.2. https://github.com/slp/krunai

libkrun 1.18.0, the last 1.x release, has been tagged. Homebrew and Fedora builds will start appearing in the repos soon. From now on, the main branch is targeting 2.0, a release that will revamp the whole API to reflect the reality that libkrun has transcended its original purpose of enabling podman+crun to use Virtualization, becoming a general purpose VMM. 2.0 will also come with vhost-user support, guest accelerated graphics and... Windows host support. 🫠 https://github.com/containers/li...

I really like the MNT Pocket Reform design and form factor. The only significant feature missing seems to be deep sleep, but sounds fixable in software since the RK3588 SoC does have a PMU with multiple power states. I just wish I could just justify spending that much on a secondary laptop. 😅

Both CopyFail and DirtyFrag (and the ones that will surely come after) are demonstrating the value of using microVMs to isolate untrusted workloads.

I built krunai with isolation in mind, but turns out a really nice side effect of running AI agents in microVMs is that you can install them once and clone them multiple times, even to other computers. To streamline the process I implemented "clone" and "import/export" in v0.2.0, which is already tagged and released (also in the Homebrew tap). https://github.com/slp/krunai

Hm... I think with just a little effort it should be possible to adapt Faugus Launcher to integrate seamlessly with muvm on Asahi. That would make running non-Steam Windows games much, much easier. Which, in turn, means freeing ~3GB of RAM that would be otherwise wasted by steamwebclient. A nice relieve specially for those of us still using 8GB machines.

KrunAI is a new tool for running AI agents inside microVM sandboxes, ensuring they only have access to the contents of your current project. Available now for macOS, with Linux support coming soon. https://github.com/slp/krunai

Roki is a lovely adventure game with puzzles, now available DRM-free on GOG for just a little over 2 euros. And it works like a charm on Asahi Linux with Faugus Launcher, even with just 8GB of RAM. https://www.gog.com/en/game/roki
