after @MrAndrewD and @cafuego alerted me to the Dutch deals at Aldi #Australia this week, I looked at the catalogue and was going to complain that they didn’t stock the one thing I really miss — but I decided to leave it and just go and look anyway, and: THEY HAVE HAGEL!!!!!!

I saw an announcement of a forthcoming The Original Wailers gig here in #Naarm so I looked up who The Original Wailers are exactly and it turns out they are not in any way the original Wailers, but a band started by a guitarist who played for a while as part of the Wailers from their 7th (seventh!) album on. 😅 I’m sure it’ll be a great gig, but

oooh I’m pleased I found this. very significantly priced down because “slight warp”, but I risked it and I am pleased I did: while visible, the warp isn’t audible (well, on my run off the mill turntable it isn’t, at least) and it’s a record I always knew I should spend some time with — so now I will! #NowPlaying Queens of the Stone Age - …Like Clockwork (fun record store I hadn’t been to before this: www.deserthighways.com in Reservoir, #Melbourne #Naarm) #VinylRecords #vinyl #StonerRock

RE: https://aus.social/@slevelt/117001078395398955 I still have this on rotation and it really is very, very good. it’s a 45rpm pressing on double vinyl and there’s not a side to it that is not great. #NowPlaying #VinylRecords #StonerRock

I guess at least we can all agree that it’s good practice to live your life in such a way that your death doesn’t give occasion to debates over whether it’s okay to celebrate someone’s death or no

finished this just now — an excellent read that I both recognised and learned loads from. Required reading for anyone living on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woiwurrung and Bunurong peoples, and I also very highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in community and political activism in general #Naarm #Melbourne #AusLit #bookstodon

RE: https://aus.social/@slevelt/116493845804625923 ok this does not disappoint at all, fantastic interview. if you’re interested in how the culture of #hiphop came into being and how it came to be named what it is named, or if you have any fond memories of Yo! MTV Raps, or just if you’re looking for a fun conversation geeking out about pop music history, find this episode of the One Song Podcast with Fab Five Freddy

time change over here, so from now #ThePlaylist is at 4am, the #FaceMelter at 5am, and the morning window for communication with Europe is shorter (/non-existent, depending the European contact’s bedtime) but the evening window longer

in a record store today it turned out that my older brother, who was always the #reggae head in our family, didn’t know this album — Keith Hudson’s Flesh of my Skin, Blood of my Blood. It is one of my all-time favourites, so if you don’t either, I highly recommend you lend it your ear sometime! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FC0XKhZYi24 #NowPlaying (link to whole album: https://vprecordsofficial.bandcamp.com/album/flesh-of-my-skin-blood-of-my-blood)
