  I'm 54 minutes into a three week holiday and I just checked the work chat. There was nothing new, everyone else has also knocked off for the day. What is wrong with me.

  Convinced the kids to try watching Malcolm in the Middle. I was a bit worried it wouldn't have aged well or would be dull or cringe, but nope, still good. I hope we keep watching long enough to get to the yak shaving episode.

  I had missed that last.fm recently became 'independent', whatever that means. It and Flickr two early-ish internet companies I truly feel I've got more value from than they've taken from me in privacy invading data sales.   Re-activating https://pixelfed.social/drzax to share some holiday snaps. Follow if Scandinavian architecture is your thing (or you just want to follow some travels). First stop was Singapore. Can highly recommend a 24 hour layover on route to Europe.

  I think the existential risk (human extinction) narrative around AI is a red herring designed to distract from the far more plausible (and in many cases, already measurable) down-side risks of the various technologies we've unhelpfully lumped together under the AI marketing banner.
