@jwildeboer It could be seen as a good thing by us, seasoned Fediverse users, but it will never be seen as a good thing by ordinary users simply because it&#39;s not good experience. They just wanna be in touch with friends. Your friend suddenly disappears because they happen to be on an instance that violated something. There is no transparency, no obvious way to appeal. The friend is just gone.

After 3.5 years on the current instance, I think I&#39;m ready to move on. I&#39;ve lost too many good contacts due to instance blocking. Any recommendations where to go? I mostly post in English, but occasionally in Czech. I appreciate if the instance blocks spam and clearly abusive instances, but otherwise I&#39;d like to rely on my judgment who to block.

@cmccullough, hi, I see you&#39;re on social.vivaldi.net. Are you happy with the instance? I figured it might be the right one for me: a community I share values with, data in Europe, not too big, not too small, reasonable moderation, international...

@electricCZ@mastodon.arch-linux.cz @wolf70 nám chladí TČ, ale v těchto vedrech stejně nedostane teplotu v domě pod 24C. To na spaní taky není moc komfortní. Jestli nás v budoucnu čekají teploty mezi 35-40, tak se klimě taky asi nevyhneme.

It seems that #Bluesky is getting some traction, so it&#39;s good to summarize the facts: - it&#39;s centralized (99% of users on one instance), - it has insufficient moderation, - it&#39;s not easily publicly browsable, - it has terrible terms of service (you grant them broad rights to all your content). The only thing that makes it different from X in principle is that it&#39;s not run by a mad man (yet)... Ah, I forgot it&#39;s Jack Dorsey&#39;s project, nevermind.
