  My mother in law is in despair because her Kindle Fire is being effectively bricked by Amazon from the 20th of May. I'm lucky that I am fairly tech savvy but it is crazy how many devices will be sent to landfill just because Amazon doesn't want to support old devices

  I don't think I'd get another Dell machine. The XPS series is billed as having great Linux support but my XPS version has zero support for the webcam, mic, or speakers since upgrading my Kernel & moving away from Ubuntu as the drivers were proprietary and Dell only released support for Ubuntu 22x builds

  After a lot of head scratching I had another go at applying an overlay for a previous version of Strongsong in NixOS tonight and finally got it working. I love NixOS but really need a deep dive, for beginners paced tutorial as I feel there are gaps in my knowledge and the docs out there aren't always that clear for me. #NixOS

  Today I installed Qbz, a native Linux Qobuz client that provides better sound quality than the browser. It isn't available in nixpkgs so I had to install the tarball manually and I only went and flipping did it. Wasn't anywhere near as challenging as I thought it would be and now I have a lovely new music player. I love #nixos

  Happy #WorldBookDay. Hoping some of you lovely folks can recommend a book for me to add to my reading list. I'm open to reading anything as long as this book is a five star recommendation from you. My recommendation would be Kazuo Ishiguro's The Remains of the Day. A masterpiece
