We’ve reached a point where new gadget is just a long con for a bunch of VC to turn something you come to depend on into something that makes your life worse for profit. There’s this combo Google Drive/project management system called Feishu (or Lark) that a lot of our clients use, and it’s the single most sociopathic, unintuitive, garbage UX I have ever experienced. I hate everything about it and despise that it even exists.

It is 2025 and somehow I still can&#39;t rely on a phone camera to reliably and consistently choose landscape vs portrait correctly. And, worse, the process to fix that before sharing a photo is still more than a single extra tap. Thank god I have a bunch of Al features I&#39;II never use, I guess?

Cooking is one of my favorite activities. I insist on cooking breakfast every single day, and I feel like I’m starting to get sort of adventurous with it. Today’s is jalapenio, shiso, and onion rice porridge topped with fried bacon, sweet potato, and poached eggs, with sesame oil and ponzu.

I actually do use one, with a caveat. Every weekend that I can, I turn my smartphone off and switch to a dumbphone. I’d do it full time, but my job wouldn’t be compatible with it. The joy of fully disconnecting is real, though.
