One thing that doesn’t seem to be improving is AirPod range. I love my AirPods but if I leave my phone on a table or on the charger I can’t even walk around my house reliably. Range seems to be 10-20ft and 20 is only with direct open line of sight.

@marcoarment I was once paying Cloudflare $80k a year. I never got faster than week long support and rarely from trained individuals. I no longer pay Cloudflare.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@atpfm/116297624952863592 Apple definitely timed the Mac Pro announcement for the same day as ATP to delay the news for a week.

RE: https://mastodon.online/@davidaugust/116365209837211372 Because of my position many friends and relatives ask me about AI — Specifically if it is conscious (it isn’t) or if it will be soon (I doubt it). I normally start by explaining to the best of my ability how LLMs and the scaffolding around them work. The end is always the same. A depressing realization that either a probability algorithm is all it takes to match consciousness (it isn’t) or that it is all it takes to be convincing. E...

Godaddy has been on a downward spiral a decade or more. So I know this isn't new. But I just can't believe how bad it has gotten. This is the same domain. Offered to you for $1 on sale if you don't want it, or $374 if you do want it.

I think I did it. I found the worst take on Tim Cook's retirement there is. LinkedIn ftw. Seriously I tried so hard to find the proof this was a joke but I think it's a serious commentary. With comments ranging from "true" to "what about BTC"...

RE: https://hachyderm.io/@mitchellh/116484051725139878 “Lately, I've been very publicly critical of GitHub. I've been mean about it. I've been angry about it. I've hurt people's feelings. I've been lashing out. Because GitHub is failing me, every single day, and it is personal. It is irrationally personal. I love GitHub more than a person should love a thing, and I'm mad at it.” I don’t exactly feel this way about GitHub. But man do I fee...

RE: https://toot.yosh.is/@yosh/116487778402803336 I wonder how many of those action minutes are just stuck jobs running for hours… cause I get a lot of those these days. Which number is reported matters.

I hope that has AI companies raise their prices to cover the real cost as VC money dries up that the local AI story evolves somewhere fun. I always hate the thin client periods of tech and love the powerful local machine periods. Because I love owning and playing with computers. I hope we make it to that point where every year a new computer saves literal minutes to hours of your day without being a rent seeking game.
