@APBBlue It's when faced with cheese like this that I'm so glad my own lactose intolerance has been defeated by simply taking lactase pills. The thought of having to do without cheese would be unbearable!

Annual reminder to my friends outside Ireland: it's the three-leafed shamrock ☘️, not that 4-leafed clover abomination; it's St Paddy's, not the flat burger thing; it's spelled "craic" 🥳 and doesn't mean what you think; bacon and cabbage is mostly for tourists; green beer 🍺 should be illegal; yes, we feed our cows GRASS; and 40 is too small a number for shades of green. @thomasfuchs They last long enough to cool down? 🍪

@thomasfuchs can imagine proximity to a massive heatsink would be pretty efficient, but proximity to anyone (especially young munchkins) who has discovered that hot cookies are delicious means that no thermal adjustment post-oven is needed. Especially chocolate chip!

Could they not just borrow some engineers from Dyson to design a space toilet that actually works? #Artemis #tech

The fern about 1.5m from my internal office window has finally reached out to the lamp by my desk and looks like it wants to take it! This thing is growing so fast these past few days one can almost see it move. #HousePlants #nature

Just had a Chinese takeaway blow-out with the fam and am pleasantly stuffed. Whenever we do this I am reminded of a super ex-boss of mine from many years ago who, shortly before Xmas, read the room and realised that many of the staff had family so he decided to forgo the usual "party" and instead funded each person enough to get a slap-up meal for the spouse & kids. We went Chinese, and even took home a freezer-full in cartons! Best company gift ever. So cheers Kevin, w...

@thomasfuchs Another +1 for Waterfox, which I've found to be pretty stable and not burdened by the bloat/slop of the parent Firefox.

@GracelessHippo @tal Exactly this. It took 4 weeks for us to train ours, casting the YT videos to the TV. Now whenever there is a firework sound nearby, she looks to the TV to see if the magical colourful display will re-appear to entertain her. She eventually got to like following the moving images rising up on the screen, despite the bangs and pops. (Not sure how she'd behave outdoors with the real thing.) Before we did this training, she'd be a quivering wreck in the corner.

Yesterday (Thursday) felt like Friday. Today I wish it was Thursday again so I could get more time to finish this week's mountain of work. A bit of Groundhog Day would be welcome right now. #busy

@APBBlue @jeridansky Suggests an idea for Mastodon app developers: custom speed-block notes, where you can pre-define your own notes to add to a block, like : "being an ass", "troll", "bot", "bad grammar/spelling",... (OK, that last auto-note might be excessive 😉)
