You can now sponsor my work on ties, the federated bookmark manager! Your support goes towards the implementation of new features such as localization, collaborative list editing and sharing, and new flexible ways to organize your bookmarks. (I'm evaluating services like liberapay that don't belong to a tech giant like MS, if you'd like to support ties via one of these, contact me.) https://github.com/sponsors/raffomania #foss #selfhosted #fediverse

I switched to Wayland about a year ago but this post made me reconsider. I always thought the remaining Wayland issues were due to lack of manpower, but it seems governance and communication problems block a lot of progress as well. https://nocoffei.com/?p=451

Just merged the new bookmark editing form for ties. It's the most complex form I've built using htmx yet. During the process, I've learned a lot. A blog post is coming!

Here's v0.3.0 of ties, the federated bookmark manager, with a new light mode, flexible bookmark editing tools, and a critical security fix! If you're using ties, please update at your earliest convenience. If you're not using it yet, now's a good time to try it out! https://github.com/raffomania/ties/releases/tag/v0.3.0 #fediverse #selfhosted #activitypub #rust #htmx

Some sad gems in this post: > In an untested room, common sense like “LLMs should not be allowed to deploy code without human review” can kill your chances to make an impact before you’ve even started. > Where possible, when raising issues, do not have conversations about the state of AI projects in group settings, as this creates a dynamic where each individual member of the group is worried about outing themselves in front of their peers. https://hermit-tech.com/blog/ai-mania-...

Building Progressively Enhanced Forms with htmx In which I go into things I've learned over the course of the last year building moderately complex web UIs for ties, using plain HTML and htmx. https://www.rafa.ee/articles/progressive-enhanced-forms-htmx/ #smallweb #webdev #html #hypermedia #htmx

One thing I wish more libre projects would do is write down their core values and goals. It shows users and contributors what to expect, and prevents misunderstandings, wasted work and frustration. Here are values and goals I just wrote down for ties: https://github.com/raffomania/ties/blob/79a4da63801c1861a3b50eed6cd48d83fe7fc5c0/doc/values-goals.md #foss #selfhosted #fediverse

Just released v0.2.0 of ties, the self-hosted federated bookmark manager! The big highlights are website archiving and full-text search functionality. This has been in the works for almost half a year. A lot of thought has gone into making this smooth to use, robust and secure by default. I'm looking forward to hearing feedback! https://github.com/raffomania/ties/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md#020 #selfhosted #fediverse
