We’re having a lovely May Grey with some light rain and chilly weather. I’m wearing my favorite socks, the hummingbirds are hanging out on the feeder under the eave and out of the wet, the kitties are snuggly and enjoying their heated beds (I just wish I wasn’t working)

Lately my cats have been doing that thing where they group together and stare like O_O - so some critter I can’t see must be nearby. I can’t tell what it is and it’s eluded them for a few days. Just now one cat, snuggled up with me with her back to the wall and her motor running, suddenly jolted up & ran across the room and onto the shelves to stare at the wall. I still see nothing. Now I’m wondering if they can hear spiders/centipedes/other crawlies? What are you, little critter??

pros of living in my condo complex: the trash truck came while I was desperately funneling gross trash into a bag. so I just ran the bag to the other side of the condo loop and put it in a neighbor’s can and it got picked up 3 minutes later, no one the wiser 😎 cons of living in my condo complex: everything else. like almost all HOAs, my HOA hates joy, whimsy, and addressing the things we’ve agreed they’re financially responsible for that I pay them money to address every month

I saw my aunt this weekend. I always admired her growing up: she was a dedicated dancer, bird watcher, traveler, and general arts-enjoyer. I took up ballet and piano because I wanted to be just like her. I just found out that she started all of those hobbies after she got sober in her 40s, shortly before I was born. Her defining characteristics, in my eyes, have occupied less than half of her life. It was a nice reminder that you can start a new chapter of your life whenever you’d like.
