Boot partitions have been increased to 512MiB by default in pre-built images, and will be created so by the upcoming pmbootstrap 3.11 version. "For quite a while now, 256MiB has served us very well, but we've been starting to see issues with larger kernel packages like linux-postmarketos-stable or linux-next, which occupy around 150MiB on /boot on aarch64 systems due to the large number of device tree blobs shipped with the kernels." New edge blog post: UIs can soon explicitly declare support for service managers "By limiting the configurations a UI can be installed into to what the maintainer actually supports, postmarketOS can provide more consistent quality and make debugging any issues that do arise easier." "pmbootstrap will now perform strict builds of packages by default, which was previously opt-in behavior enabled either by invoking it with the --strict flag or by setting pmb:strict in the APKBUILD for a package. The change for this was merged to pmbootstrap's main branch today and will be shipping in the next minor release, probably 3.11.0." Thanks to @aelin for implementing this and writing the devel blog post! https://postmarketos.org/devel/2026/06/01/pmbootstrap-...

Speaking of great things for Linux Mobile that @nlnet and @NGIZero are funding: One of them is the OpenIMSD project, which has the goal of getting VoLTE on Qualcomm based phones working with postmarketOS, @mobian and all other Linux (Mobile) distributions. As a precursor to that, we need to be able to create VoLTE-related QMI traces from Android phones. @lynxis figured out a good method and wrote a blog post about it: https://postmarketos.org/blog/2025/06/17/volte-project-qmi-sniffing-with-fr...

After the next stable release of postmarketOS (v26.06) we have decided that unmaintained devices (those where the device package doesn't have a maintainer= line in their APKBUILD) will be archived, this means the packages will no longer be built and included in our binary repository. If you want to make sure an unmaintained device continues to be supported, you can take over maintainership yourself so that we can reach you if there's a problem rebuilding the device or kernel pac...
