The contrapositive of "It is funny because it is true" is "It is not true because it is not funny", which I don't think has ever been taken seriously as a foundational approach in the study of logic.

Yesterday I heard that (non-technical) people have started abbreviating "ChatGPT" (meaning LLMs) to just "Chat".

I guess I missed it, but it is kind of funny that the Epstein files include a version of the Bash manual from 2005: https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%209/EFTA00315849.pdf

Just a reminder for people who blog on Emacs, there's been a blog carnival going on for the past few months, and this month I've been hosting the theme of "Mistakes and Misconceptions", in case anyone wants to contribute during this last week: https://sdf.org/~pkal/blog/emacs/mistakes.html FWIW I think that shorter posts on the Fediverse are also fine, as long as they are accessible without an account. For anyone interested in publishing an Emacs package on GNU or NonGNU ELPA, we just added a page on how to do that and what to keep in mind: https://elpa.gnu.org/contributing.html If anything is not clear, please reach out! My hope is that this document can help clarify some of the misconceptions around ELPA and demystify the process. #emacs #elpa

Emacs 31 will be cut in one week (7th of May?): https://yhetil.org/emacs-devel/87zf2k5m0c.fsf@zephyr.silentflame.com/T/#u If anyone has any outstanding patches, feature requests or non-trivial bugs, please ping the bug reports! (I am planning to prepare a video demonstrating package.el-related features some time soon afterwards, to motivate people to try the non-negligable number of features we have added since Emacs 30 and submit bugs if encountered.) #emacs

"Traditional CLIs are so boring, why don't they add color to make them more fun?"

For #Emacs users: I am proposing a "beginners" theme* for Emacs, that would automatically enable features that wouldn't be enabled by default. It might come with a checkbox on the splash screen! The idea is to have a OOTB replacement for (basic) starter kits. You can review the list of options that the theme would enable in this thread: https://mail.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-devel/2026-02/msg00395.html. I am interested in more ideas.
