  RE: https://fedi.simonwillison.net/@simon/115884336394941211 I agree with Simon that coding agents like Claude Code or Codex are fascinating and one of the revelations to me in 2025. Exposing this to non-coders has huge potential, but also (as always with AI) even higher risks. Next to the price tag, I wouldn't advise anyone non-technical to use Cowork in a professional environment other than for personal research. I wouldn't put "security worries aside".

  One of the nicer things about using GitHub is that "GitHub Actions" can act like cron jobs, so you don't need any server to automate workflows. I use this to send out newsletters, https://github.com/ping13/listmonk-rss. Unfortunately, scheduled GH actions have been broken at least since last week: https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/185081 I do hope this comes back soon.

  I love Venn diagrams - who doesn't? Tonight, I stumbled upon a mathematical paper by Bálint Csanády that introduces a new way to generate a Venn diagram: https://arxiv.org/html/2601.06980v1: "[...] Unlike most classical constructions, our method emphasizes readability and customizability by using shaped sinusoids and amplitude scaling.   We should prioritize using AI to assist humans in navigating the forthcoming surge of software code.   @scott geobeer.ch events are also free. Tito helps to limit the number of people by issuing free tickets because demand is usually higher than the available seats per event. Maybe @rastrau can comment on his recent experience. AFAIK we never paid for tito.

Why is this cool? it streams and visualizes potentially large geospatial rasters directly in the browser without servers.   My #netatmo weather stations fails to show me data on the web and in my app because of a Cloud issue. Unfortunately, there is no local way to read the data (at least to my knowledge, the #HomeAssistant integration depends on a cloud connection). I knew about the cloud dependency, when I bought it.
