This is a really interesting paper on how stress reduces prefrontal cortex performance. My therapist is always like “if you’re stuck, first remove all stress” and now I can see why. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2907136/pdf/nihms197465.pdf

I‘m not laughing at the delusions of our billionaire overlords anymore, these fuckers need to go. “Biological limits are real, but digital potential is infinite. If we starve our data infrastructure of cooling resources just to sustain baseline human comfort, we are actively delaying the birth of a super-intelligence that could solve all of our resource problems in the first place.” https://theprint.in/feature/jeff-bezos-water-consumption-amazon-ai-potential/2964266/

I got pretty wet taking this video, but I just couldn't stop watching the rain paint this wall.

Ugh, DHH referencing Kathy Sierra hits hard. He‘s part of and driver of a toxic culture that makes the online existence of brilliant minds like Kathy‘s impossible. It has been many years and I‘m still angry about what was done to her and I miss reading her 😢🐴❤️

I started reading Ralf Westphal’s ideas on #EventSourcing and like what I’m reading. I know very little about ES, but have had it on my radar for a long time now and his writing made it click for me. I also find his ideas on entity-less design intriguing. If you have advice for or against, resources, stories, libraries, event stores, etc. I’d be interested to tip my toes into this water! https://ralfwestphal.substack.com/p/command-context-consistency

The church bells next to the café I’m in ring C-G-E every quarter hour and that’s Ron Sexsmith’s opening notes to «Secret Heart». Every. Single. Time. the song finally stops playing in my head, the bells remind me again 🤷

Engineering, but with computers! This I find fascinating, I hope it’s not just because it’s from a domain I understand so little about that I wouldn’t see the glaring holes 😅 Reminds me of Wolfram Alpha: build a proper model and reap the benefits. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gpLoudrp_g

Ferngesteuerte Arbeitskraft 100%. Denken ist nicht vorgesehen – und ausdrücklich unerwünscht. @karpi hat sich heute mal wieder selber übertroffen 🙌 (das sind meine zwei Hände, zum Beweis!)

“Researchers measured autistic people against neurotypical expectations and called every difference a deficit. They tested empathy by measuring in-group preference and missed commitment to universal fairness. They measured creativity by counting the number of ideas and missed originality. They saw moral consistency and called it rigidity. They saw deep engagement and called it rigidity. They saw sensory richness and called it disorder.” https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/positively-differen...
