Evening Poppers! Are we ready to moan and groan about, what we are told, is the best music the naughties had to offer us? I'm gonna plate up my chippy tea, then *boom* #TotP

Evening Poppers! We ready? The Continuity Announcer has given up pretending it's good music... But we start with S Club 7 - with boys singing... #TotP

A break from your irregularly scheduled #penwingDoesSlashers2026 for another #RandomFilmSunday vote and watch... This required zero re-rolls (for films seen in the last year), and features classic Disney (Menken and Ashman even 8-), a film which doesn't get the airings it deserves, the return of a director we haven't had on the list since August and I thought would never not be on the list after getting his box set and a full concert musical... So vote! Vote like my evening dep...

Time to watch The Laramie Project... I hope before I get picked up for dinner. Normally I watch it on 12th, but we have an evening lined up, so it's today. Excuse me if I'm crying in the corner... (There are full versions of the play on YouTube too) If you don't know it or about Matthew Shepard, read up a bit first and be good to yourself https://youtu.be/b7MychmgDWM

Watching Attack of the Killer Tomatoes... It's unexpected... Elements of Airplane! in the humour and a brilliant meeting room sketch... Just ignore the racism and homophobia...

Finally, the hybrid West End/Broadway recording of Hadestown hits UK cinemas and I am here! Reeve Carney (*heart races*) Sadly, no Melanie La Barrie, who was excellent in the West End as Hades 8-( (but I think Andre De Shields should be good still anyway) (I wonder whether they're keeping up the West End production's "regional accents - yay!" policy...)

I'm sorry, what?!? Lynch's Dune is not anywhere close to "virtually unwatchable" at all... Better than the Villeneuve rubbish... (No, I'm not Gen X)

Got a misdelivered package - right house number, wrong street. No problem, thinks I... That's the street opposite me so I can just go and deliver it... Wow, these numbers are high... Errr... I'm most the way down and they're still nowhere near low enough... Maps to the rescue - the street continues the other side of the dual carriageway. Fuck that (for now) I wants me chippy tea and #TotP

Evening poppers! What are we hoping for from #TotP tonight..? I'm hoping for something better than Mambo No.5 to dislodge my current earworm, Mambo No.5 I am expecting The fucking Birdy Song...

Oh no! The chippy has run out of chips... Well, chips that are ready anyway... Gotta do some me magic while I wait here hungry and fearing I'm going to miss the start of #TotP 00s goodness

I am done for the day... for the week... my brain is mush... I shall fix this by watching truly awful early-00s #TotP re-runs tonight???

Scores for first five... Warsaw is hosting so have knowledge of the trams... #TramEM

Woohoo! #TotP is back to normal tonight and I can join in again for the first few episodes...

Oh god... Still no #TotP for me tonight... This time it's not even The Proms it'# the bloody Cricket... I hardly engage with anything BBC (I'm probably sacking off Strictly now too) and still the stuff I do try gets usurped by bullshit

Ooh BBC Four (and therefore iPlayer where it is already up) is showing Dolly's Glastonbury performance from 2014 tonight... IIRC it was a lot of fun (but I thought it was more recent than that...) https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b04d8xv8/glastonbury-dolly-parton-2014 Once again, will be busy before #TotP or Dolly starts 8-(

It has been clear for a while that neurodivergency (ADHD and Autism specifically) are in the crosshairs, but from what I read of last night's Great ADHD Myth, it's ramping up significantly... With the "usual suspects" ("Gender Criticals", racists and general bigots) behind it... Anyway - I hope we're all doing OK and looking after ourselves as well as looking to next steps to fight the fuckers

Looks like there will be no #TotP for me tonight... But I shall probably be watching Elgar at the #Proms instead...

So, it looks like the faux-feminists have decided "she was asking for it" and "look at what she was wearing though" are, somehow, acceptable arguments... Rowling with her harassment (and upskirting) of Freda Wallace and now Burchill and her comments on Maire-France van Heel (Andy Burnham's wife)... (both of these are, obviously, on that hotbed of feminist discourse, Twitter and screenshotted and under endless repeat on Blusky) Who needs patriarchy eh? #UKPol

Fear not Poppers! I am here! My TV forgot that live broadcast TV was a thing so needed a re-tune... My tablet was using a VPN so iPlayer was all "nope"... But i'm here for Lauren... #TotP

Nooooo! Poppers! There is something bad and wrong taking over our #TotP foray through 2000... Sports. Women's cricket to be precise. (Did you know people actually play and, more bizarrely, watch cricket? It's not a practical joke PE teachers played on us all?)

Evening Poppers! No battered sausage today (the chippy ran out of fish so cleaned out the batter forgetting me... How do you forget me?!?) I have a bad feeling that we may have had 2000's good #TotP episode, so... Buckle in

Evening Poppers! Welcome to the new Millennium* I have chippy tea and cheese and... Well, hopefully cheese... #TotP *Disputed

No sporty rubbish ruining our aural rubbish tonight Poppers... And in, maybe better, news - it's the hour long 1999 Christmas Special (which is why we couldn't have the normal two episodes last week)... at the very least, it means that we only have to sit through Cliff's bloody awful Millennium Prayer a maximum of one time... #TotP

Tweet tweet! Hello Poppers! Four episodes but only one 1999 episode... We are blessed? Maybe... #TotP

I just checked and, despite some sportsball thing having started, we still have #TotP tonight! I'm not saying it'll be *good* TotP, but... Huzzah!

My MP has joined the crowd of Labour MPs calling for Starmer to go 8-) #UKPol

• View post

Oh good... Starmer's "reflection" is here (or, at least, the version he wants Guardian readers to see) - https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/may/08/election-results-left-right-uk-keir-starmer And he *says* he takes responsibility then fails to do so - exactly as expected. Everything is everyone else's fault. He makes brief mention of "unnecessary mistakes" made by a nebulous "we" and unidentified. He's st...

So, Starmer's determined to stay. The country doesn't need the chaos of a leadership election. So what does Starmer have to put in his upcoming King's Speech? What should his second Parliamentary Session be doing? #UKPol

The algorithm has just thrust this list of seven Sci-Fi books for beginners upon my poor, unsuspecting soul. Shall we just say "no" here? Unfortunately I need to get some thoughts out, but probably won't be able to do a full list now... Let's see how well we manage... https://booksofbrilliance.com/2026/05/05/7-sci-fi-novels-for-beginners-the-best-science-fiction-books-to-start-with/
