With the news that Paul Simon's hearing loss may be forcing him into retirement has come doctors and audiologists reminding people that any sudden hearing loss should be considered an emergency situation. Sometimes hearing can be preserved with the help of steroids if treated immediately (which I sure didn't know so maybe we both just learned something!)
