Always remember to print a date code on your PCBs so that you are always reminded that your personal project time management sucks :) Just finished some USB-C powered #darkroom far-red led lights

That's the nice thing about being distracted by a side-project: building your own tools. In this case a RFC2217 compliant wifi to uart bridge including DTR/RTS for ESP programming, with galvanic isolation. You can pass the "--port rfc2217://IP:PORT" argument to esptool and it simply works :awesome: Now I can flash and monitor from my android phones linux VM.

Fun with #Linux Chasing a weird socketcand problem with savvycan for an entire afternoon just to find out it's a missing firewall entry and a savvycan quirk. You can't connect manually via TCP, it *requires* the UDP broadcast to get the connection string.

Currently working on a #canbus to #HomeAssistant gateway with #esphome that supports DBC files. Problem: ESP32 needs a physical connection to said CAN bus. Sane solution: physically move ESP32 contraption to the CAN bus. ADHD brainfart: Set up Raspberry Pi with MCP2515 and immutable Alpine Linux that runs off RAMFS. Cross-compile Cannelloni for aarch64. Tunnel CAN bus to local machine's USB-CAN adapter. While we are at it, include serial2net. Yes, it works. Yes, I drank too much Club...

did you know that the #DWD has public access to all the #Wetter data? https://opendata.dwd.de/climate_environment/CDC/observations_germany/ I was able to pull a dataset from my local weather station and generate a simple 3d plot wit #pandas #numpy and #matplotlib to show the number of days in a year for a given temperature bin. This is really helpful to find the sweet spot for a new #warmepumpe installation

Fun with #Linux part 0xEF: If you forget your emtpy µSD to SD card adapter in the SD card reader, sh!t will hit the fan. => BIOS will take forever to timeout to check for boot media => lvm2-monitor.service will take 13 minutes to time out => if you think it's a broken update because you are impatient and try to chroot from bootable usb: lvm2-monitor.service will wait forever Just because two 0B disks are reported to your system. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

1000€ worth of magic smoke. Poor LEM Ultrastab :( 18V Zener on the -15V rail went up in flames, my guess someone swapped GND and -15V.

"Hurr durr have you seen the recent news, #signal has been hacked" Me: No, some politician was careless and fell victim to a simple phishing attempt and shared the login credentials. Signal is still safe. "No that can't be true, they are politicians!" This literally happened, twice.
