Have a business? Invest in your own website. “Customers who booked directly on the website of his Bendigo City Centre motel saved plenty of money, paying $165 a night for a standard double room compared to those who reserved the same room through Booking.com and paid $190.” https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-05-30/booking-com-price-parity-clauses/106727746

Just now looked up when Global Accessibility Awareness Day falls. It was today! As it happens I spent most of my GAAD writing accessibility fail Jira issues. Finished up the day by writing a stroppy reminder to my lovely colleagues about purposeful image alt text. Suppose I celebrated appropriately after all.

For the special person out there waiting for it – version 13 of my new NetNewsWire theme is looking ripe to publish! Spent some hours finding a way to work around a Safari SVG filter regression. Now I need a screen break. Will be back to write up what’s new.

These days Apple makes loads of money from services. It makes sense for them to sell cheaper machines to get more people onto their services train. This doesn’t mean their cheaper machine is bad. It just has more reason to exist as a product than it did before.
