  I know phone cameras take some liberties with image processing, but this is just ridiculous. I honestly don't even know what happened here: it's not just slopscalling because even large things like the SATA label are messed up. Almost looks like the output of stable diffusion "img2img"... perhaps someone told a chatbox to put the photo on a white background?

  In light of recent events, I wrote a thing about making flexible "ice packs" that freeze at 18 °C. That's low enough to cool down, but high enough to be frozen in a basement (no electricity required!) The materials are cheap, non-toxic, non-corrosive, and store ~100 J/g (30% of ice, but can still provide an hour or so of cooling)

  Regarding the recent windows affair, you should probobly not use TPM based disc encryption (like default bitlocker) Password based disc encryption works like this: the computer boots up, prompts you for a password, and uses that to decrypt your data. If someone steals the computer, it's mathematically impossible for them to see any of that data.
