So much talking about #digitalSovereignty. Sustainable sovereignty does not come from switching from a US techbro corporation to a closed European alternative. Proper #decentralization, like the fediverse, is a good step. But real sovereignty comes from rethinking and questioning the very foundations of our IT infrastructure, with its central servers, IP addresses, or TCP/IP protocols. #Reticulum is such an approach to think one step further, implementing uncentralizability and real resilienc...

🧮 How can we measure #researchQuality in #psychology? The #DORA declaration tells us what *not* to do. But what to do instead? A working group (commissioned by the German Psychological Society & in the spirit of #CoARA) now proposed a way to practically measure research quality in hiring & promotion, w/o resorting to JIF or h-index. 1/

Lessons learned today: `renv` does not work if you use it on a mapped network drive on Windows. (apparently problems with symlinks). After `restore()` it throws an error about: `Error in .make_numeric_version(x, strict, .standard_regexps()$valid_package_version, : invalid non-character version specification 'x' (type: logical)` Currently investigating potential solutions … #Rstats

🙏 #Psychotherapie

In the #RESQUE evaluation scheme („Research Quality Evaluation scheme for psychological research“), there is an indicator for publications: “Correctness of computational results has been independently verified“. https://www.resque.info With CODECHECK, you can request and upload a verification certificate. This gives you "extra points“ in our evaluation scheme, as this is a real quality criterion. https://codecheck.org.uk #researchAssessment #CoARA @aufdroeseler https://nerdculture.d...

„When you optimise a step that is not the bottleneck, you don't get a faster system. You get a more broken one.“ Great blog post on the „efficiency" of #vibeCoding software: https://andrewmurphy.io/blog/if-you-thought-the-speed-of-writing-code-was-your-problem-you-have-bigger-problems

New large scale registered replication project probing Construal-Level Theory. It shows the typical pattern: Hundreds of published studies (with positive effects), but virtually no replication attempts. Metaanalytic bias correction suggests true effect close to zero. The preregistered replication: * N = 11,775 from 27 countries and regions; 99.995% power for g = 0.23 * direct and paradigmatic replications Results (positive effects are consistent with hypotheses): * temporal, d = 0.08, 95% c...

Theory development and formalization is a new hot topic in psychology's reform movement. We apply the #FAIR criteria to scientific theories. The increased accessibility and transparency of a #fairtheory promises faster scientific progress. New preprint by @cjvanlissa, Aaron Peikert, Max Ernst, Noah van Dongen, Andreas Brandmaier and me. https://osf.io/preprints/psyarxiv/t53np_v1 #preprint #academicchatter

The journal Psychological Science totally revamped their review and decision criteria towards good scientific practice (instead of novelty and significance). E.g., the reviewer instructions say: "Please do not assume that findings from studies that are not preregistered were the result of a detailed a priori plan - that would be unfair to authors who allow us to see their plans by preregistering them. [...] We do not want to create a situation where authors who preregister have their...
