After having worked half a day (my colleague spent even more time) trying to configure some reasonable secure settings for #claude we are surprised how buggy, broken in general shitty their permissions model and sandboxing is. It took us half a day to come up with a better working bubblewrap wrapper than they provided. You wouldn't guess that #Anthropic has billions at their disposel. At least it isn't my money. #llm

After making my network simpler I thought I would fill the time by yak shaving my #Emacs config and throwing my muscle memory out of the window by trying to replace evil with #meow. We will see if this is a good idea.

I find this series by the #HeadphoneShow very interesting. They go and measure how their head and ears exactly influence the sound they here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9gWIu3EP84 In one of their videos they recommended that you should try a frequency sweep after using the AutoEQ feature of squig.link Through this I think I realized that I might be quite sensitive to treble. The green line is what feels comfortable to me and the dotted line is a target that many people feel comfortabl...

Does someone have any pointers for a crashing system? I suspect that it is related to the GPU, especially under heavy load. It is an Intel Xe GPU in a Dell Latitude 7450 notebook. Unfortunately nothing shows up in the journal. I have to wait for the diagnostic LED code again. Looking at the manual, it seems I remembered it wrong. #Linux

Thank you very much to all the #freesoftware projects that allowed me to do, what I do now. Thank you for educating me, giving me tools to work with, giving me the opportunity to give back, to feel validated, thank you. #opensource

I really like my #wireguard setup. I'm moving more and more services behind it and don't expose them anymore. In addition I've setup #pihole again and move as much as possible from my #pfsense firewall to my #nixos server. It just feels better to have things set up declaratively instead of relying on backups.

The #alabaster theme by @nikitonsky is the first theme since solarized that makes me want to use it. I recommend his blog post to understand why: https://tonsky.me/blog/syntax-highlighting/

Seeing Orban voted out makes me very happy and even a bit hopeful.

I removed all my #Raspberrypi from my network and #NixOS configuration. Main reason was that I needed to reduce my side projects a bit. The raspi's were a nice experiment but I just needed to reduce my workload a bit and their hardware and architecture don't help to make things easier. In addition I set up #Wireguard (when you remove some projects you can start new ones right?) with the plan to have it enabled all the time. The initial idea was to have a mesh but I have now so...

#Schweiz #saule3a

Well that was fun. I managed to lock myself out of my fileserver (QNAP NAS) after I misconfigured the #Wireguard client. Luckily there is a short window after reboot where the client isn't connected and I was able to SSH into the server and remove the broken config. Took me three attempts however.

@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social @danieldk@mastodon.social @ambiguous_yelp@veganism.social Isn't the more important part to get vendor support for the SoC? AFAIK this is why they went with that strange chip in the 5. As for the kernels they ship I don't know what the limitation there is. That's why I'm asking, if there aren't any, then yeah they should ship a newer version.

I was trying to sync music to an SD card exFat. #rsync for some reason failed with ` failed: No such file or directory (2)`. I then copied the files with Dolphin and it worked just fine and when I ran rsync again it didn't show any changes. Very strange.

I'm still in the process of moving more of my applications back to my laptop. This article helped a lot to gather a list of Linux desktop music players: https://crescentro.se/posts/linux-music-players-2026/ The two contenders I settled on are Lollypop and Elisa. Currently I'm leaning more in the direction of #Lollypop because I like the design a bit better and the performance is better. Elisa would be great because it is a KDE application but it just feels very laggy. All...

Back on #Android after a few years on #iOS. As a device I chose the #Fairphone 6 for all the obvious reasons and because the are a European company. We'll see how it goes, the switch was mainly made rely a bit less on US services and that is at least currently easier on Android than it is on iOS as Switzerland doesn't have the alternative app stores. Maybe a stupid idea, we will see. #boycottUSA

Being back on #Android feels a bit like time traveling. And in (hopefully) my #Pebble should arrive. I reckon that will feel even more surreal.

Does someone on #NixOS use #Radicale with the email hook? I would like to use this but encrypt the credentials with #agenix but there isn't an option to read them from a file.

It is really fun to have all my data directly accessible on my phone without having to rely on an active internet connection. Not that I don't have one but I just don't need one for most of the tasks. This is mainly done through #Syncthing and an SD card in my #fairphone This leads me to the thought that I maybe could use #Nextcloud only for files that I want to share with some one else.

@circus_maximus@social.anoxinon.de Haha my bad, I didn't check the profile just assumed that it was their profile but apparently they only have personal profiles. The proper website would be this one: https://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/

Is someone out here using the notebook as the server and connect to it on the go? I know that @ChrisLAS@podcastindex.social does something similar with his van but I'm more curios about a mobile workstation centred workflow where the laptops acts as the server for the devices (mostly the phone). Edit: removed a faulty profile link an updated the wording. #selfhosted #offlinefirst

@viharm@twit.social Way too early for a definitive answer but here are a few things I noticed. @Fairphone@social.weho.st whoever put the powerbutton and fingerprint reader in this position never used the phone with the case and their left hand. It's nearly unusable and that is after less than 24h. Other than that it has been nice so far. It's great that I can just insert a 1 TB SD card and carry all my music with me. The file sharing between apps works much bettee between apps so I do...
