#emacs man, wordreference started serving 418s to requests from wordreference.el or EWW. i wonder if they're keen to block LLMs so we also have to miss out. i tried different user-agents. anything else i might try?

new post on blog, money and/as the body: https://anarchive.mooo.com/blog/a-note-on-money-as-the-body/ "Money, which is incontestably death, is the unit of measure of the subject’s state or social body. Labour then is the infinitesimal or total sacrifice of the natural body in exchange for the receipt of units of the subject’s state or social body. ..."

#commonLisp just spent aaaages working on a toy/art/poetry common lisp project, only to realize like a total dunce that i don't know how to build it for ARM. i guess i either set up quicklisp and all dependencies on the ARM server, and build there, or else have to do same in some kind of, *shudder* docker or similar container? fml

I started working on an essay called "Three fundamental disagreements with the tradition", re Marxism. the three are fetishism, barbarism, cannibalism. More personal than theoretical, or sort of in-between. So last night i got to reading the anthropology book from which Marx took the concept of fetishism for his famous commodity fetishism, Du cultes des dieux fétiches (1760) by Charles de Brosses, which is about black spirituality in West Africa. Wow, no surprises but it is a...

man, #guile #scheme is v cool, v v good. (but also, i really really struggle with the absensce of nil punning. instead of nil everywhere have '(), \#f, and the dreaded \#<unspecified>. why on earth would i want my when clause to return the latter when it could just return nil? i can't fathom it.) e.g. this bit of the manual i find glaringly, demonstrably false: "When you go to write an ‘if’ without an alternate (a “one-armed ‘if’”), part of what you are...

"With the defeat of fascism and the liberation of the concentration camps, Antonio García Barón set out to live his life outside the reach of the state, capitalism, and most importantly the church. He settled down in the Bolivian jungle where, despite jaguar attacks and multiple assassination attempts, he lived on to be the last survivor of the Durruti Column." https://crimethinc.com/zines/the-may-days via https://todon.eu/@autonomysolidarity/110293220454031090 #mayDay

this is more like the way to say it: "On the other side of things as the lead developer of Shirakumo I've decided to put out a blanket ban on all of this garbage. I do not care if LLMs work at all, or if they will ever work, or whatever. The usability of LLMs is completely irrelevant. By using them you are happily handing over the single last remaining shred of your human spirit to the capitalists to help them burn everyone else and the world with it to the ground." h...

say what you will about LibreOffice, and I will indeed say a lot about it, but at least it shows a giant warning with a giant light globe icon when you enable overwrite mode.

#emacs nerds, so i know the project-level find/replace workflow: consult-ripgrep, in results buffer change to wgrep-mode, then use iedit-mode to mark all instances of something, edit them, apply, save. but i wonder how to do this with things that run over multiple lines, like e.g. HTML? i changed consult-ripgrep-args to make it display 2 lines of context around matches in the results buffer, but i can't edit those context lines as normal.

"Hyenas hunt in packs, but each female takes meat back to her own young. No male would dare to take her kill, because female hyenas are bigger and dominant over males. Interestingly, female hyenas have large penises, and in one species give birth through their penis. Some biologists describe these penises as very large clitorises. In any case, this was not the road taken by human evolution. More’s the pity." from Lindisfarne and Neale, "Why Men?: A Human History of Vi...

does anyone use featured hashtags on their profiles? i was thinking of implementing for #emacs fedi client #mastodonEl, but i can't even see them when i add one to my profile in the web UI, or on this user's profile, who wrote a blog post about it linking to their own profile for demonstration purposes: https://toot.cafe/@chartier. edit: i "featured" a tag on my own profile using the endpoint, but it doesn't appear in my profile data and there is no end...

tried to build a guile haunt website using exported data from a blogspot site, haunt can't handle HTML entities in posts and i don't know how to fix it. no idea how to modify some shtml parsifying stuff. super simple project, suddenly everything gets insanely technical and i can't follow anything. tried to make a common lisp coleslaw site to see if it could handle HTML posts better, couldn't even get the skeleton test site to build by running the 5 instructions i...
