We’re all Belgian for the moment, right?

    😂😂😂 Beautiful.

    Alright, Lionel, calm down, mate!

My colleagues will insist on using: Where table.integerValue = ‘number’ and Where table.stringValue = string* forcing the DB to convert every time. I keep telling them 😂 * in these cases the string is always a numeric digit so it works fine, but that’s not the point! 🤪

I write some of my best code in Excel. Today’s little win was writing a Smartsheet cell function in Excel, copying it down the 15 rows that needed it with it automatically-updating to reference the correct values on each row, and then dropping that straight into Smartsheet. And it worked. First time. 😁

It’s birthday cake o’clock for me now! 😁

I’ve had a great birthday. Breakfast with family, being looked after all day by my wife, Gill, birthday cake, even the cat gave me a cuddle 😁 I am very lucky!

We are being allowed some sunshine in England at the moment, so I took advantage at lunchtime and went for a little run. It was lovely and warm, not too hot, and I managed 4K so that’s not too bad 😀

I pre-ordered Paul Hudson’s Kickstart as I need all the help I can get with launching apps.

Sometimes I’d like to support folks by buying their stuff, but then I remember two things: 1) mostly they despise me and put everything on Cotton Bureau to make it a LOLworthy cost to post stuff, 2) having bought dreadful quality clothing merch in the past I am skeptical. Not all folks etc.

I wonder how long the “New football manager” debate will last with Cook vs Ternus. If you’re unfamiliar; when a footy team gets a new manager, success/failure is apportioned by bores based on their like/dislike of the new and previous managers. For example, Arne Slot didn’t win the league as it was Klopp’s team vs Arne Slot won the league with the same team that Klopp didn’t win the league with. I very much look forward to my podcasts being full of this stuff 😂

I also did a run in under 2 hours today!

Picking up my wife from Manchester airport. Because the airport folks hate humans, they have made this process difficult and stupid. If you can pick up someone in 15 minutes, you can do that free! But if not, then you can park. You can book and pay 20 billion GBP or chance it that there’s a space and pay about 10 billion GBP. And you must park on the right level or else. I have no idea if I have done any of this correctly. The car is in-between the white lines though, so that’s something.

Wow. @marcoarment’s blog post had power, folks!

Managed a 6k run today. First time in a long time. It’s been a rough 12 months due to rehab and my autism journey. A mixture of not being able to run along with extreme bouts of anxiety have meant my running has been sporadic. Sometimes I managed three runs a week and sometimes I didn’t really leave the house except to go to work. But a good day today! 6k and another activity logged in my exercise planner PocketPB 😀

7k run today! Best run for a long time. I feel like I am slowly getting some fitness back. I am still really struggling to get out and run and that is affecting me, but today I made it 😀

RE: https://mastodonapp.uk/@goodbinary/116295887250289914 Cool app if you like walking and want to generate or plot some routes. Good time to take advantage of the lifetime offer too 😁

Ah, two days off work. No laptop, no SQL Server databases, no typing weird instructions into a machine etc Me: Opens MacBook, starts reviewing PocketPB’s data model and typing weird instructions into a machine… 😂

Slowly getting back to running after a four week break. I didn’t want the break but unfortunately physical and mental health said otherwise. Anyway, two runs in a week, so progress 😀

RE: https://iosdev.space/@mlysons/116244583717813786 If there are any iPhone users in #running that want to try out an exercise planner app, there are a few spots left on my TestFlight. Apologies to non-iPhone users. I don’t have the time or skill for Android at the moment.

My exercise planner, PocketPB, won’t report your location to people with bombs and other munitions.

Callsheet is great though, isn’t it? It’s like a public service. Recognise Jenny Actor but not sure where from; Callsheet it!

Another run done. Up to 4K this time. The long, slow road to fitness recovery continues! Now to mark off the run in PocketPB! https://testflight.apple.com/join/dZ5cp9cU

It's laptop club today, which is mostly an excuse for me and my wife to go somewhere that will serve me a hot chocolate…and we take our laptops and do some work on our various projects. It's the first trip out in the wild for MacBook Neo - being well behaved so far. I am figuring out setting up sub domains on my website so that I can host app websites on their own sub domain. To test it, I hand-coded a HTML page in BBEdit. Takes me back to coding ASP apps in Notepad back in the...

I've been catching up with @pointfreeco SQLiteData series. I've been an avid user of GRDB for, I dunno, maybe 10 years, so this is my go-to method for persistence. And PointFree’s work looks fantastic. I am going to have a go at a sample project to see how well it works for me. The thing I am most interested in is the iCloud syncing - that is going to unlock some apps/use cases for me!

TL;DR; Here’s a TestFlight for PocketPB, an iPhone app I’ve been telling Codex to build: https://testflight.apple.com/join/dZ5cp9cU - it’s for people who want to create exercise plans, e.g. a 10k plan, a strength training plan etc. I had been working on it since 2019 but I paused in 2023 because it had defeated me. A few weeks ago the Xcode AI stuff appeared, and I decided to try it out. I didn’t plan on re-doing PocketPB so fully, but I thought it would be interesting to see how well Codex did...
