Yesterday all 6 seasons of The Expanse were on SBS. Now it’s just the 1st 3. WTF.

Oh I bet it was the stupid Apple TV showing me Amazon. Goddamnit.

No more World Cup. No more Expanse. And a cold. It’s sure all coming up Mikey.

Don’t understand it, but don’t see it surviving: “Oracle, as the corporate sponsor of the OpenJDK Community, is working to draft a full policy governing the use of generative AI tools in OpenJDK contributions. Oracle will propose that policy to the OpenJDK Governing Board in due course. Until that policy is in place, the Governing Board has approved this interim policy: Contributions in the OpenJDK Community must not include content generated, in part or in full, by large language models…”

It’d be a cruel irony if Java was what we were left with.

Claude's had a name change on Github so my log search wasn't working Claude <noreply etc became Claude Fable 5 <noreply etc at some point, maybe also other version numbers. so git log --all --grep="@anthropic" And hey presto. Prompted by finding Hammerspoon (a Lua scripting engine for the Mac) earlier this week. Alas they had their first Claude commit earlier this month. So, not them then.

It's the basic logic of self-preservation.” DHH. For anyone still using Ruby, Rails, etc. https://world.hey.com/dhh/wolves-sheep-and-gypsies-ba44af6a

The inclusion of the miscellaneous “single issue“ category to include a bunch of right wing causes (incel, anti vax) in with the left, seemingly to bump up the left’s numbers & help both sides the thing, seems kind of desperate. I guess that’s the centrists now. Desperate. Australia does the same. That Venn diagram is purest middle management muddle. Extremists, a field guide. Bonkers. https://www.protectuk.police.uk/threat-risk/threat-analysis/threat-left-wing-anarchist-and-single-issue-...

3:30pm. Friday. Time for cert problems. But of course.

Cert problems are following me around. Fix the other one & decide to play with Agate on FreeBSD. There's a pkg, cool, that'll save me a ton of fiddling with config locations &... nope, doesn't like the certs I roll on the Mac I use for that. Sighs in 'it worked on Debian'. (But wondering if it's an Agate change rather than an OS one..)

Over at the Aus, Greg Sheridan has his knickers in a knot. “What the Trump assassin’s manifesto reveals about the educated left is terrifying”. OK, I’ll bite… According to Greg, the manifesto “repeats mainstream left-liberal critiques of the Trump administration and of Trump as “pedophile, rapist and traitor”. These terms are grotesque. They arise from paranoid fantasies about Trump’s association with Jeffrey Epstein, immigration policies and military campaigns.” Lolz. #uspol #auspol
