Thinking about government support contracts for FOSS projects: Let's say a government like Germany is finally getting around to setting up an OSPO (👋 @bsi ), wouldn't that be the ideal entity to do support contracts for FOSS projects like cURL? Wouldn't it be super interesting to have FOSS engineers contracted in the case of a cyber cyber emergency and in times of the "high quality chaos"? @BMDS

New initiative by the Linux Foundation to coordinate Open Source vulnerability remediation ^^ Involving "Amazon Web Services, Anthropic, Chainguard, Cisco, Citi, Endor Labs, Ericsson, Google, IBM, JPMorganChase, Microsoft and GitHub, NVIDIA, OpenAI, RapidFort, Red Hat, Rust Foundation, Sonatype, Vodafone, and Zscaler". https://akrites.org/ #opensource #cyber #security

3. Zug hält dann natürlich trotzdem in Riesa. 🤡 #bahn

"There was nothing odd about the call itself, either. A somewhat-difficult-to-understand man with a German accent was on the other line." 😳 https://grack.com/blog/2026/06/25/dissecting-a-failed-nation-state-attack/ #rust #malware #attack

Important heads-up to FOSS maintainers by Daniel from curl: "Any project that has not scanned their source code with AI powered tooling will likely find huge number of flaws, bugs and possible vulnerabilities with this new generation of tools." Since I'm working for Alpha-Omega currently, please reach out to me if you could use some support regarding this. We're setting up various programs to help FOSS maintainers in the times of "high-quality chaos&...

Hej MacOS users: I built an app that lets you add Open Source video conferences to your Calendar invitations. Like Jitsi, BigBlueButton and OpenTalk. It's called CalendarFreedom and is now available on the Mac AppStore. And it's free and Open Source (so FOSS, if you will ;)). Get it while it's hot. https://apps.apple.com/de/app/calendar-freedom/id6759659484?l=en-GB&mt=12 #didit #did

Dear FOSS Community 👋, I’m researching Open Source funds and support programs that directly pay FOSS maintainers or contributors (not just offering mentorship), similar to the Fellowship program by @sovtechfund I’m especially looking for programs that: - are aimed at FOSS maintainers or contributors (not only students), - focus on paid support and - offer funding for at least 3 months. If you know of any funds, organizations, or initiatives like this, please comment (or boost). Thanks :)

Dear FOSS maintainers, here’s a list of funding programs currently accepting proposals for maintenance work: Codeberg: https://codeberg.org/mechko/awesome-maintainer-funding GitHub: https://github.com/mechko/awesome-maintainer-funding Thanks to everyone who helped crowdsource it! I’ll keep it updated, issues and PRs are very welcome :) #opensource #funding #maintenance #foss

This week the European Commission published the draft for a guidance document for the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). It is 70 pages, but contains some helpful examples and flowcharts, like this one, making it accessible even to Open Source folks with limited time. Here: Quick guidance for the question if your FOSS component is in scope for the CRA, and if so, wether you're deemed a steward or manufacturer in regards of the component. #opensource #cra

How do you keep up with your Mastodon timeline? Some days I just don’t have the time or energy to scroll through everything, and I end up missing plenty of popular toots or boosts. What kind of tools or clients do you use to address this? (For me the general "trending" feature does not work, because I'm only interested in my own timeline, not in trends within my instance.)

Dear Fediverse, after some ups and downs over the past months and my departure from @sovtechfund@mastodon.social, I’ve decided to move into freelance IT consulting. I even created a website 😅: https://swillus.eu. I'm offering support around Open Source (as in OSPOs, policies, programm management), Supply Chain Security (also in terms of CRA readiness) and Engineering Management. Let me know if you know someone who needs support. Thanks! ❤️ #opensource #fedihire #getfedihired #getfedih...
