I have noticed that a lot of verified accounts on gaza-verified.org—particularly those on mastodon dot social—have been muted or otherwise hidden hidden by their servers. As much as I would like to help, my resources are extremely constrained of late. Since I want to help, but am not in a position to contribute financially, I figured the least I could do was to try to provide some additional visibility. If you have the means, and are so inclined, I would like to remind everyone that they can al...

This question doesn't lend itself well to plain text, so I LaTeX'd and screenshotted it. I'll do my best with the alt text. #math #maths #mathstodon #AskFedi

I've suspected for a while that I'm probably on the spectrum. It seems to fluctuate, but for the past few days I've been experiencing something that sounds very much like what I understand autistic burnout to be like. Tasks which should be simple (e.g.: feeding myself) become insurmountable obstacles. I'm exhausted all the time, and when it's at its most acute, communicating what I'm experiencing becomes impossible. I literally lose the ability to form coherent sentences...

@alice@lgbtqia.space I came across my first love lock a few days ago. I'd seen it a few times, but wasn't carrying my tools. I finally remembered to bring them with me today only to find that the keyway seemed to be filled with some sort of glue? Have you encountered this before? Is there any hope of non-destructive opening left? I imagine probably not (especially at my current skill level). I'm clearly not the first person who's tried to open it. It's in pretty rough shape...

So I have an older netbook-esque laptop currently running Windows 10, and I'm sure it's not upgradeable. I've toyed with the idea of slapping #Debian on it to give it new life, but I've also been thinking about giving #BSD a go. Were I to do the latter, which BSD would the fedi recommend for an underpowered machine? CC: @silverwizard

I think I've been able to pin down what it is that I like about #Emacs so much. When I first started using computers, I was using a TRS-80. If you didn't have a cartridge inserted, It'd boot directly into BASIC where you could program the machine directly. That wasn't a bug, it was a feature. Modern computing seems to do its best to hide all that stuff away. Everything is treated more like a simple (albeit specialized) appliance, not a powerful machine that can be made to do lit...

One of these days, I'll figure this whole #Monsterdon thing out. I mean, I get the general concept, but I never know what movie everyone is watching and when. I'm always reminded as it seems to be in progress.

#Today I added a take-out menu to my virtual sushi bar in #LambdaMOO. It took me longer to retrofit the code to make this happen than I care to admit. Did I have more important things to do today? Probably. I just needed a break from reality for a while.
