Santa Clara put together a great 4th of July program at Mission College, attended by thousands of people, capped with fireworks from Great America. The Santa Clara Vanguard high school band was excellent there. We were out and about earlier and saw parties and barbecues large and small going on, and also wandered around Redwood City's downtown bash and block party.

Wow. I just blocked a too-prolific news source I had followed, and my timeline is MUCH better immediately. I probably should learn how to isolate those in their own feed. (Not looking for advice – if it's doable I can do it.)

Hey, Bay area hikers, it's huckleberry season! Seems early this year. We ate them by the handful in Purisima, El Corte de Madera, and San Pedro - Montara this past week. Found dark ones and also a few lighter blue (blueberries?) at 1000-2200 ft altitudes. And look up! they tend to grow on the taller bushes. No pic – I was too busy eating.
