@janvlug yes, It’s not open source; at least not completely. My decision to go with Vivaldi was based on my stance of no forced genAI in my browser. I was a long time (~20 years) user and supporter of Firefox until Mozilla started with the genAI and then doubled-down on it.

@neil that’s the first thing that came to my mind too! It has an A18 Pro, so theoretically it may be possible to get Asahi Linux on it.

@janl so much this. I have started on the same journey and I am finding most of my workflows transferring to Linux without issue; which is great! There are still few apps that I have been for a long time that don’t seem to have a counterpart on Linux; e.g. @scrivenerapp, but otherwise this move of line to Linux is proving to be fairly smooth. Hoping to properly articulate this on my blog where I haven’t posted any articles in a long while 🙈

@fj any deal that has to include this sentence “shall not be referred to any national or international tribunal or third party for settlement” should be rejected immediately and outright! This is a red flag (perhaps not the only one in this deal) and a clear indication of their true intention, that these people are going to do some major villainy.

I recently read short post on the steam machine delays. Towards the end of the post, the author made a remark that I was not expecting. This reminded me that even now people co-opt other peoples language and propagate false views and ideas about a people that are already marginalized and actively demonized. It was the last place I expected this happen and all I wanted was to know why steam machine is being delayed.

@jimniels totally agree. I have started looking in the OSS for a sane replacement so that I can ditch my music app. I just need a lightweight music player; not a media center software. I just need a simple app to do one thing and do it well, play *my* music.
