@da_667 might want to add a note that the LD plist needs to be root:wheel 644 or the load command will fail

@Viss@mastodon.social looking forward to seeing this. I re-watched Rogue One right after the Andor finale and the tone felt way different; disjointed- even Diego Luna’s performance (which is to be expected I suppose). Will see how much he offsets that.

RE: https://front-end.social/@stefan/116345248295405561 This. This is why when I’m 9 days behind on my Mastodon feed I refuse to fast forward. I would have missed this and it is BRILLIANT

@jgamet@mastodon.social Sorry about your friend Jeff. Sounds like an amazing guy.

Two of my biggest clients are asking me to deploy Claude to all their computers. That in turn has spawned pushing git and Xcode (CLI tools at least). On Windows they ask for Python, WSL, and Hyper-V also. Surely this won’t cause any issues. 😬😬😬

@lgwapnitsky you know who is just as bad at social media on fedi as he was on algorithm driven billionaire owned platforms? Yup it’s me. Nice to see you. I hope you’re doing well.

@Wrewdison i appreciate you saying this. I feel guilty about the same topic sometimes.

Okay HBO Max can stop showing me the preview for “Temu Harry Potter” It’s so weird that even if JK wasn’t a deplorable I wouldn’t watch.

On a company-owned computer you should have zero expectation of privacy. (I can’t put that exact phrase in an email to someone paranoid about my installing software on “my computer” that their employer just hired me to manage. So I’m putting it here.)

Starlink or TeraWave. Who ya got?

RE: https://hachyderm.io/@kevinrenskers/115995694056021778 I feel pretty much exactly as Kevin eloquently posted here. My “trapped” is slightly worse in that my entire career has been built around supporting people who rely on Apple devices. It’s a microcosm of tech and the USA at large. So depressing.

I settled on my #marchintosh project for this year. My clients have been retiring anything with an Intel chip in it. And those have been piling up at my office. So I just finished installing Linux Mint on a few 2015-2017 MacBooks Air. Some $15 AC adapters and out they go to families or kids that need a computer.

@Viss@mastodon.social This exact topic has occupied a large and increasing amount of my energy in recent years. I’m “know enough to be dangerous” but am happy to talk with you about it.

@niloque@mastodon.social Looking forward to my next opportunity to try this.

@jonschwenn@hachyderm.io I should probably clarify that it’s for business. Installing Linux or OpenCore - or staying on OS X forever - to prevent e-waste is awesome …at home.

A lot of you all are on LinkedIn too. I made a post there about a 9-yo Mac and EOL macOS (for marketing purposes) … over half the replies are saying to switch to Linux.
