A slower pace of life and shops open every day of the week. Two things that do not go together.

Fascinating spectacle: the pigeon used to claim just one windowsill, but now it wants the one next to it as well. Any other pigeon that lands there is aggressively chased away.

Any temperature below 25°C is too cold for shorts. Any temperature above that is too hot for capri trousers #FirstWorldProblems

It is not even 30 °C yet and I am sweating buckets just doing the washing-up. It does not bode well for the summer.

Cooked white beans and black chickpeas, dinner for tonight, lunch and dinner for tomorrow. I will do the washing-up and then I am done with it.

Tomorrow morning I will decide whether I want to add feta to the millet salad as well

Tonight, for the first time in my life, I heard the word ‘eschatological’. It is not as if I am 12 years old.

My body aches and I am completely knackered

I do not think my knees will ever be right again. It is a huge step backwards. Not surprising with a degenerative condition, but I am not prepared for it 😢

I think I will have to get the fan out tomorrow. I am already feeling warm – the first tropical night is just around the corner.

Since I am awake anyway, I might as well cook lunch to take to work tomorrow...

Actually, I fancy a coffee, but then I will not sleep anymore. 4 hours' sleep is not enough, especially with a very long day ahead.

All right then. I wonder how many clients will use factor 50. Protecting yourself against skin cancer often does not seem to be a priority.

Perhaps I should save some energy and not walk to work and do two bike tours as well.

Allergic reaction. No idea why. Would it be the shampoo after all?

It is not something I usually do, but I had dinner with one of my clients last night. We did not exchange contact details; we just had a nice meal together.

I reckon I have found the best vegetarian/vegan restaurant. Not a single hippie in sight. Absolutely delicious food.

During the tour, I was showered with compliments. Love to hear it, but it is most of the time a bad sign: it means zero, nada tip.

Fatigue is just around the corner

What has happened to the flight path? I suddenly find myself living right underneath it #NoisePollution

You could also eat healthily instead of taking expensive supplements

Things are not going the way I want them to. I cannot change it, so keep calm. Zen!

I have just enough time to cook some white beans before I go to the gym.

That is exactly how I recognise myself: a cleaning frenzy in the middle of the night/very early in the morning

The tastiest time of year: as well as all the ‘winter vegetables’ such as cabbage, there are cherries, strawberries, green asparagus and artichokes, all locally grown.

That bloke really gets on my nerves. Ten messages in, and I have already given the answer in my first message. For some people, reading is a real struggle.

Goodness me, I feel old now: someone reacted with surprise when they heard that you can store apples outside the fridge for months in a cool cellar or attic.

I have just been out for a 2-hour ride, pedalling hard, and I have got an hour of strength training coming up. I am doing pretty well, if I do say so myself.

A café where they don’t wash the saucers under the cups, but just wipe them with a dry cloth and reuse them. It was the first and last time I had a coffee there.

Not working and doing nothing for a few days really messes with my sleep. I have got too much energy. Given how I felt a year ago, I never thought I’d ever say that again.
