  First day on mastodon, and I was blocked for a measured, respectful counter response (in my opinion). Thoughts? Could I have phrased my point better? Or was this simply a case of not wanting to disrupt their echo chamber

  @chowderman Honestly had never bothered trying to engage in debates online, they’re never really done the right way, looking forward to building and being a part of an IdeaLab community on here. Lets make it our objective to arrive to the most nuanced, best form of an argument. Not the dumbed down version that can be used in quirky one liners.

  @Thompson@newsie.social Absolutely! It's important to recognize when the issue lies with others and not internalize it. Moving on can be empowering, one can only hope to remember and foster embracing open dialogue and the possibility of a paradigm shift.

  @chowderman Hindu languages(Sanskrit/Prakrit and the ones that followed) and Ancient Greek are both derived from parent Proto-Indo-European languages. Thats where the link is!

  @oldrawgabbit In my experience an impromptu change in whatever plans I had makes the feeling go away. I like to think of it as switching timelines last minute.

  @chowderman haha! So crazy to see the words that would have been in their vocabulary then being so inextricably linked. Future meeting of cultures or invasions left not only giant pillars and statues but a pattern of thinking and expression. Truly fascinating imo!!

Biases to the “ Great Man Theory” and how it can lead to ignoring a plethora of social, economic, and religious situations and movements that were usually more instrumental than the charismatic leaders.
