So I’ll sell tickets for a talk about AI and type design, make sure it looks good for the socials and then just show books and sketch and chat? And everyone would be ok with that.

A quick overview of the asterisms in the LettError fonts. All new titles have have the symbol and I will add them to older ones when useful. I prefer the asterisk with 5 strokes. For LTR Very Bauble the bottom asterisks are rotated inward to create the triangular counter. This is a pretty illusion. For CT Action Grotesque the legibility at 7pt was more important. It is a complex shape and I want to it do its job at scale. By moving the bottom asterisks outward, they create some room for the to...

Longboard for RoboFont, on Mechanic. I've fussed about this before, and it took a lot longer, but there it is. Designspace navigation in the glyph editor. Measuring, testing. Oh, fast as well. Free, bite me. @RoboFont #designspace #variablefont #typedesign #editors

LTR Very Bauble ❤️ Longboard and @RoboFont! Imagine this is a long academic post about how building your own tools enables new ways of working that lead to shiny new work. Now imagine you read this, you know this old horse. But it's remarkable how it remains true. Also, at this moment, maybe you just want to look at something pretty because hell.

Sunday morning designspace-thinking. While it is worthwhile to make each variable font source perfect, the majority of your designspace consists of mixes of these sources. How far does your perfect reach? When and how were you going to look at the actual outcomes? Oh of course, Longboard for @RoboFont , right from the start https://github.com/LettError/longboardRoboFontExtension Illustration with @drawBot

Let’s think about the smallest of independent data points in a glyph, the hard work these dapper dots have volunteerd for, and how incredibly plentiful to keep track of. This is the plankton that swims around in the darkest, deepest corners of your designspace. And you know that if you misplace just one single of them, your entire pipeline collapses with angry tracebacks. Be kind to your anchors, see them swim.
