#askfedi Does anyone know if absent/hypersensitivr gag reflexes are genetic? Not that I have a reason to want to know, it just came up in conversation, and now I'm curious.

I'm slowly but surely transforming my bedroom into a 1970s metalworking workshop 🥰 Got a new old vice, decent size this time so I can actually gronk down on parts. And an ancient Metabo hand drill I was given.

Full day today! Gonna work for my typical hours, head home just to hop under the shower, then help out teaching people how to break computers, then head to the workshop to quickly mount another one of the new vises, carry a leftover one across the city to bring to another workshoppy place that needs one, and then (finally) head home and actually rest. Probably around 22:00 or so. If I feel especially cunty I might try to start a 3D print to test another part as well.

today was a very "I hate #freecad I love freecad" day I designed a new fan shroud for the 3D printer, with lots of lofts and organic smooth shapes to not impead the airflow while leading it all around the very tight space of the extruder, trying to not reduce print area (too much)...

(very) late #freecadfriday submission: Stackable gridfinity boxes! The lid holds with some pins in slots, one of them with a detent (I need to make that a bit less tight and more consistent with an actual flexture), and has a base plate pattern on it to make it stackable. The model is not yet parametrized, but it is on the todo-list. I'm also not a fan of the finger choil for opening. I think I'll move it to the side, and add a little something to not have it be an actual open...

Finally did some work with the cnc router at @cccac A tilting base for use as a precision level (once I've added a way to mount the vial on there) This is the second iteration of this post: https://chaos.social/@la/114830171135313270 and the continuation of this one: https://chaos.social/@la/114864794581773275 It's nice to finally see the damn thing as a physical object ^^ Still need to figure out a way to preload the mechanism (and give it decent endstops) And mount the vi...
