  I have not opened Xcode in at least one year and I have done more and better Apple platform development than ever before in that time. I don’t know what I should take from that observation. One day you’ll pick up your child for the last time ever and there’s no way to know when it will happen.

  I didn’t see anyone talking about this: at Google I/O they announced that AI Studio can generate and install full Android apps from the browser, no local development environment required.   I did a 4,000-line refactor from SwiftUI ScrollView + LazyVStack to UICollectionView + UIContentView in about 6 nonconsecutive hours with little actual attention spent. It's wonderfully performant and the only things I had to tweak were spacing. This would have been the highlight of the quarter for me a year ago and now it is the least significant thing I will accomplish this week. It is also why all the air has gone out of so many topics for me. Declarative or imperative UI? Who cares?

  The juxtaposition of my social circle of peers who are excited that AI is finally almost behind us because a snake oil bubble is about to pop, and my own experience that everything is finally all clicking and I am addicted to doing the best work of my life faster than I ever thought possible is challenging!

  Does it make sense now why I’ve been saying all of the idle compute and silicon we have in consumer electronics is an anachronism? Why we will be compute-constrained for the rest of our lives? Why this is not an asset bubble comparable to previous ones? Why we are on the path to capital replacing labor? Companies are already falling over themselves to spend senior-engineer-level salaries per engineer on AI that isn’t close to the top of the S-curve (if there even is one).

  GPT 5.5 in Codex has been able to independently fix complex issues that GPT 5.4 and Opus 4.7 in Claude Code could not solve in several days, even while collaborating.

The descriptions of these all start with, "spawn a remote session to…": /autopilot /bugfix /dashboard /docs /investigate Then there are other small quality-of-life things like: /less-permission-prompts /team-onboarding
