I feel like end-of-live is becoming another form of planned obsolescence. More and more frameworks are bumping the major version every 6 months without the need to do so. Anyone using this framework has to update at least every 12-18 months. In open source, this takes up valuable time that could be better spent. For commercial software, companies need to find a way to pay for these recurring costs even if no other development is done. One way to do this is through subscriptions.
